Äänekoski organizes versatile art hobby activities for children, young people and adults as well. These are offered by Koskela Settlement and Ala-Keitele music school. Recreational activities open to young people are also organized by the city's youth services.

Koskela Settlement

Koskela Settlement maintains a civic college and organizes, for example, dance teaching, art school and other activities for young people and children. Basic art education is goal-oriented education in different art fields that progresses from one level to another, which is organized primarily for children and young people. 

The curricula implement the criteria presented by the Board of Education. In Äänekoski, basic arts education is given in music at Ala-Keitele's music college. To implement the basic teaching of dance Koskela's danceand basic art education Koskela School of Visual Arts.

Ala-Keitele music school

Ala-Keitele's music school (AKMO) is an art school that provides music and playing lessons that take into account the individual characteristics of the student, both for amateurs and those who intend to become music professionals. The aim of the studies is to learn the basics of playing, to further develop them and to create a lifelong positive relationship with music. The city of Äänekoski acts as the administrator.

Theater and other art activities

Äänekoski theater offers an opportunity for a theater hobby. Youth also works under it Shadow children - theater group. There are also many other associations that organize art activities in the city. Read more cultural organizations.

Authorized graffiti and street art painting locations 

Äänekoski currently has one licensed place designated for making street art and it is located in the light traffic underpass tunnel near Äänekoski Areena Pankkari (from Pankkari's beach facing the light traffic lane towards Vaasankatu). The place in question is freely available to street artists. In addition, the city of Äänekoski has a graffiti container to move. In accordance with graffiti culture, it is permissible to paint one's own works on top of other people's works. More on youth pages!

Hobby grant 

The hobby grant is intended primarily for families where it is difficult for children to participate in hobby activities due to the family's financial situation.
