Swimming beaches

In the Äänekoski city area, there are three (3) EU swimming beaches and nine (9) small public swimming beaches, as well as two (2) winter swimming spots, whose beach water quality is monitored by studies. There are also 13 swimming spots. The beach season is June 15.6-August 31.8. between and the winter swimming season lasts from October to May.

- Status 10.2.2025: The Suojärvi winter swimming area is in use again! The water samples are clean and swimming is safe.
- It is a good idea for swimmers to observe the water before going for a swim. If clear algae rafts are visible on the surface of the water, swimming should be avoided. More information about blue-green algae (vesi.fi)

EU swimming beaches
EU swimming beaches mean a beach that is estimated to be visited by a significant number of swimmers per day during the swimming season. The assessment of swimming water quality is based on the research results of the previous four years.
