Detective youth work takes you into account as an individual and progresses in steps that suit you. The most important thing is that you want help and change in your affairs. Together we will figure out how to get the pieces of your life in order.
For a young person
If you are 15-29 years old and you feel that you need help with everyday matters, then Etisvä youth work is just for you. In investigative youth work, meetings play a central role. The meetings emphasize being present, listening and respecting the young person. In other words, the employee wants to help you.
The employee listens to you when you want to talk about your thoughts, feelings, affiliations or everyday challenges. In this way, your situation can be mapped and you can begin to organize the things that promote your well-being in everyday life. The time and place of the meetings can be arranged to suit you.
Detective youth work moves around Äänekoski, Suolahti, Sumiais and Konginkanga. Our office is located at Kuhnamontie 3b, 44100 Äänekoski, where meetings can also be arranged.
Prospective youth workers have a duty of confidentiality. All conversations held remain between you and the employee. Together with the employee, you can think about how things should be arranged so that you can move forward in life according to a schedule that suits you.
When things seem difficult
The employee is there for you and walks by your side even when things seem too difficult to figure out alone. If you are wondering what investigative youth work is in practice, here are a few examples:
- Finding out about things, such as applying for school or jobs, looking for an apartment, filling out forms, advising on financial matters...
- Getting started in everyday activities, such as housework, cooking, going to the store...
- Encountering and being present, such as having coffee, pleasant things to do together, finding hobbies...

For adults - What is Detective youth work?
The activity is based on the young person's voluntariness, and customership is possible when the young person expresses his desire to cooperate with the youth work in search. Detective youth work does not replace other services, but helps the young person get to the right service providers. Cooperation with different parties is key in managing things, and it is practiced together with the young person as long as the young person feels it is necessary.
The cooperation between the detective and the young person can be built for a short or long term. The main thing in this cooperation is that the detectives try to help the young person find inner motivation and set suitable goals for him. Detective youth work aims to support young people's growth and independence towards their own future.
Who is a Detective youth worker?
The detective youth worker is an adult with experience in investigating issues and cooperating with other service providers. He has the skill and ability to tell things in an easy-to-understand way. He has experience in how to get practical things right.
Detective youth work is governed by the Youth Act. In a nutshell, here's how that law obliges detectives to act in their work:
Section 2 of the Youth Act
The aim of this law is to:
1) promote young people's participation and influencing opportunities, as well as the ability and prerequisites to function in society;
2) support young people's growth, independence, sense of community and the related learning of knowledge and skills;
3) support young people's hobbies and activities in civil society; 4) promote the equality and equality of young people and the realization of rights; and 5) improves the growth and living conditions of young people.
Section 10 of the Youth Act
"The task of investigative youth work is to reach young people in need of support and help them with services and other support that promote their growth, independence, inclusion in society and other things, their life management and their access to education and the labor market. Detective youth work is based on the volunteering of the young person and cooperation with the young person."
