Influence the youth council

Would you like to be involved in influencing the affairs of young people in Äänekoski? The youth council promotes development from the perspective of young people and increases cooperation and dialogue between the city and its young people.

In the Youth Council, we act as experts in matters concerning young people and prepare and implement initiatives and presentations. The youth council also organizes various events, campaigns and adventures.

The youth council meets once a month. In autumn 2024, the meetings are 26.8., 30.9., 21.10., 13.11. and 2.12.

Young people also have the opportunity to influence through schools and educational institutions. Participate and make an impact!

Youth work and facilities

The youth services of the city of Äänekoski organize diverse leisure activities and meeting places for young people. The task of youth services is to provide young people with information, support, counseling and to promote young people's participation and influencing opportunities. Äänekoski youth services organize activities in different residential areas in four youth spaces and in Discord, which is a virtual youth space online.

Mobile youth work and Kesäkaara

Mobile youth work operates in the center of Äänekoski and in green areas. In the summer, activities are organized, for example, at sports facilities, beaches and other leisure places for young people, as well as at various events. At other times, mobile youth work starts e.g. to primary and secondary schools around Äänekoski.

Outreach youth work

Detective youth work takes you into account as an individual and progresses in steps that suit you. The most important thing is that you want help and change in your affairs. Together we will figure out how to get the pieces of your life in order.

Summer jobs for young people

The city of Äänekoski employs all willing young people finishing the 9th grade either for summer jobs, with a summer work voucher or a summer entrepreneurship voucher. In addition, we employ a varying number of older young people within the budget in different units of the city.
