The city of Äänekoski distributes sandblasting sand to its residents free of charge for sanding slippery yards.

Sand piles have been brought:

  • To the center of Äänekoski to the multipurpose square, i.e. the site of the demolished Valintatalo, 
  • To the former teachers' parking lot along Koulukatu in Suolahte, 
  • Konginkanka market on Kauppatie and 
  • To Sumiainen market, next to the former shop. 

Sand can now be picked up and picking up sand is only allowed from these places. The city also has other sand heaps, from which the work machines collect sand for sandblasting, so for safety reasons, you must not collect sand from other places. 

To pick up sand, you must bring your own equipment, i.e. a bucket and a shovel! 

Sandblasting sand is provided by the city of Äänekoski and delivered by Äänekoski Kiinteistönhoito Oy.
