- We encourage Central Finns to share the greetings of Stair Days and everyday exercise on social media with the hashtag #KSliikkuu. Publications marked with the subject tag will appear of the Keski-Suomi liikkuu website to the wall, say the communication managers Jenni Isopahkala Union of Central Finland and Sanna-Riikka Koponen from the Central Finland welfare area.
The whole of Central Finland to move
Central Finland is an exercise province, but up to 75 percent of Central Finns move too little and up to 80 percent sit still too much every day. The lack of movement of Central Finns, the excessive sitting still and the deterioration of the physical ability of different age groups have been answered with the Central Finland Moves 2030 agenda, which is like an umbrella with common goals for the own mobility programs and measures of municipalities, companies and other organizations.
The goal of the agenda is to increase the physical activity of middle Finns and reduce sedentary time by 15 percent by 2030.
- Even if you do exercise only in small amounts, it still has significant health benefits. Even a small amount of exercise improves health, increases energy levels and well-being. Exercise helps reduce stress and supports mental health. Exercise moments strengthen muscles and prevent the disadvantages of sitting, explains the regional director of Keski-Suomen Liikunta ry Petri Lehtoranta.
Among others, the Keski-Suomen Liikunta ry, the Central Finland Federation, the Central Finland welfare area, the municipalities of Central Finland, the University of Jyväskylä, the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, the Jyväskylä educational community association Gradia, the Central Finland Chamber of Commerce and the entrepreneurs of Central Finland have committed to the agenda.
Reaching the goal is monitored with indicators selected for different target groups, such as the Move! measurements used in elementary schools.
