The city of Äänekoski is currently demolishing the former Asemakatu school in Suolahti. During the fall, concrete and brick will be crushed at the Asemakatu school, which will cause noise and dust nuisance as well as vibration. We strive to reduce harm to residents and the environment in all our activities. We save natural resources by using the demolished and crushed concrete and brick of the school building later in infrastructure construction.

All harmful substances will be removed before crushing. Before crushing the aggregate, it is treated so that it does not contain asbestos and other harmful substances that are dangerous to health.

With good planning of crushing activities, for example watering and good work order, the city of Äänekoski aims to reduce noise, dust and other harm caused by dismantling and crushing.

The device in use is a recycling crusher, which is quieter in use than an organic aggregate crusher. The same technology was also used to successfully dismantle and crush the old Koulunmäki school on site last summer 2023.

The city has applied for a noise permit to crush concrete and brick waste on the school property. The announcement of the noise report can be viewed from 4 to 25.9.2024 September XNUMX on the website of the city of Äänekoski, after which the environmental protection authority will make a decision on the matter. The decision will also be visible on the city's website. 

The noise notification states that crushing will start on October 14.10.2024, 50 at the earliest, and that the crushing activity itself will last less than 7 days. The work is done on weekdays between 18 a.m. and XNUMX p.m. With good planning of crushing operations, for example watering and good work order, the city of Äänekoski aims to reduce noise, dust and other harm caused by dismantling and crushing.
