Seize life! Koskela University's detective college work project starts

Koskela University's detective college work project will start in September. Seize life! project offers meeting place activities and individual support for Roma youth and young families.
Koskela's previous Roma project and the meeting place of Hyvä Tuule left a good model. This time, the target group is especially young Roma people under the age of 29 and young families. The need for increasing community between families, preventing intergenerational marginalization, and supporting schooling and employment has arisen from within the Roma community itself.
In the project funded by the Finnish Settlement Association, investigative college work is carried out, the aim of which is to search for and find vulnerable target groups that are left out of college activities. Seize life! - project's purpose is to once again open a low-threshold meeting place, where you can get everyday help for e.g. dealing with authorities, digital skills, job search and going to school. The activity also offers the opportunity for personal guidance and support. All young people are welcome to visit the meeting place, and the target group of the investigative work is especially Roma youth.
Activities are planned together with the participants, listening to their wishes and needs. The project worker was youth and community director Siru Ärling, for whom project activities (e.g. Jyväsroma) and working with young people are very natural and familiar.
Especially Roma youth and working with them is close to my heart. I think the name of the project describes well the situation in which young people and young adults in Äänekoski are. Many people need opportunities, encouragement and support. Coexistence and support are the cornerstones of work, says Siru Ärling.
Kohtaamispaikka, located in the old parish hall in Äänekoski, is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:19 to 17.9:2024 on Tuesday 2025 September. starting in accordance with the working season of the XNUMX-XNUMX academic year of Koskela College.
