In matters of construction, Äänekoski provides flexible and prompt service. We serve individually and flexibly in all matters related to plots and building permits. Our good electronic services speed up transactions even more.
Building control takes care of construction advice and the processing of building and demolition permits and monitors the state of the built environment. Building control is open on weekdays from 8.00:1 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.5.00 by appointment.
In addition to the provisions and regulations in the Land Use and Construction Act and Decree, as well as other provisions and regulations regarding the use and construction of land, the city of Äänekoski must comply with the valid regulations of the building code, if the general plan with legal effect, the site plan or the collection of Finnish building regulations does not stipulate otherwise.

March 5.3.2025, 2025: Hello summer XNUMX builder, submit your building permit application now!
Please do not leave your permit application to the last minute. Due to the change in the law, the validity period of a building permit has changed from 14 days to 7 + 30 days. For example, if a decision was made on your application on Midsummer, you will not be able to start digging until August.
At Äänekoski, the average processing time for applications is 3-4 weeks, but spring rush hours may extend processing times. Construction work may not begin without a legally binding construction permit decision.

Construction Act
A new one will enter into force at the beginning of 2025 construction law, which applies to license applications submitted after 1.1.2025 January XNUMX. With the Construction Act, all construction measures that require a permit are applied for as construction permits. In addition, the demolition permit, demolition notice and landscape work permit remain as permit types.

When do you need a building permit?
According to the Construction Act, a permit is always required for:
- residential building and leisure building
- a building with a size of at least 30 square meters or 120 cubic meters
- a canopy of at least 50 square meters
- an audience structure that can be used by at least five people at a time
- a mast or chimney at least 30 meters high
- an illuminated advertising device of at least 2 square meters in size
- energy well or geothermal well
- an area built for a specific activity that has an impact on the use of the surrounding areas

Electronic permit application
The building inspectorate processes all permit applications (construction, demolition, landscaping permits). Lupapiste.fi service through. Foreman matters are also handled in the service. Through the service, you can also submit requests for advice on future projects.

If you do not have the opportunity to use the electronic permit service, you can also submit the application on paper. Even then, your application will be transferred to the electronic service, so all permits will be processed completely electronically.
Processing of the paper permit application

Construction permit and demolition permit
Permits are issued by the chief building inspector or building inspector. Permit decisions are generally made on Wednesdays. The decisions will be kept visible on the notice board of the building control at the Äänekoski town hall for 7+30 days starting from Tuesday of the following week, during which the person who is not satisfied with the decision must make a request for correction to the environmental board.

Äänekoski city License point from the store you can buy construction drawings directly from the archives of the city of Äänekoski's building control electronically and download the purchased PDF files immediately for your own use. The archive contains in electronic form e.g. master drawings and special plans (KVV, IV and structural plans).

- Download purchased documents for your use
The service already has the latest material available, and you can order older material if necessary. If the material you want cannot be found directly in the Lupapiste store, you can submit a material request to the service. In this case, we will add the material you requested to the service within two weeks.
