School Travel Support Act 48/1997
Law amending the School Travel Support Act 1223/2020
School travel allowances are provided for in the School Travel Support Act (48/1997). The municipality or the education organizer is not obliged to arrange school transport for students in secondary education. This also applies to students entitled to free education based on Section 16 of the Compulsory Education Act. Second-level students have the opportunity to apply for support for school trips from Kela.
Applying for Kela's school travel allowance
School travel support is applied for from the academic year 2023-2024 with an online application in OmaKela. Guide
If the student himself does not have the opportunity to log into OmaKela, the guardian can apply for school travel support on his behalf. Guide
