Reservations

Keski libraries use two different reservation types. When you make a reservation in the online library, you can choose either a normal or a regional reservation. Please always inform the library of a changed address, e-mail address or phone number!

Instructions for making a reservation

Normal the reservation applies to the material of all branches of the municipality selected as the pick-up point.

Regional reservation applies to the materials of all Keski libraries and it is transported to the pick-up location of your choice. The regional reservation can only be applied to the material on the shelf. The regional reservation can only be applied to material that has the status loanable in the online library. With a regional reservation, you cannot reserve books from high schools in some municipalities or objects that are difficult to transport, such as exercise equipment. Transporting the regional reservation to the selected pick-up location takes from a few days to more than a week.

The pickup time for reservations is 7 business days

All Äänekoski libraries have an open reservation shelf, from which you can pick up the material yourself using the personal reservation number shown in the pick-up notice. Always remember to borrow the material you pick up from the reservation shelf with the loan machine or at the counter!

The last pick-up date of the reservation can be seen in the pick-up notification message. A reservation that has already arrived can be canceled free of charge by notifying the library during pick-up time. A fee of €2,00 will be charged for non-pick-up and non-cancelled reservations.

Loans and renewal

The Keski libraries library card is valid in all Keski libraries. Loan periods and restrictions may vary depending on the library (e.g. library cars). You can see the due dates of your loans on the loan receipt or on the Loans page of the online library.

Log in to the Central Finland website

The most common loan periods vary from one week to four weeks:

  • 4 weeks: books, recordings, sheet music, language courses
  • 2 weeks: magazines, instant loans, items, console and board games, DVDs and Blu-ray discs
  • 1 week: weekly loans, season tickets

By the latest due date, the loan must be returned during the library's opening hours, or it must be renewed. You can return your loan to any Keski library. A late fee is charged for late returned or late renewed loans. Online replay must be done before the end of the day. Loans can be renewed five times if there are no reservations. Weekly loans and season tickets cannot be renewed.

Some Keski libraries have a return window. Loans are returned to the door at the borrower's own risk. Works returned through Luukku are registered as returned only on the next business day.

When borrowing movies, TV shows and digital games, libraries follow Age limits set by KAVI (opens in a new tab). The library is not liable for compensation if the borrowed recording damages the customer's equipment.

You will lose your borrowing rights in all Keski libraries if you do not return the loans or do not pay the fees.

You can receive a free reminder of the approaching due date in your e-mail 1 to 5 days before the due date if you notify the library of your e-mail address or save it to your own information in the online library. The due date reminder is an additional service, the failure of which, for example, due to a technical problem, does not remove your obligation to take care of renewing or returning the loans before the due date. You yourself are also responsible for accumulated late fees

Remote service

The library's remote service transmits material from other libraries and archives that is not available in the collections of Keski libraries. We serve both private individuals and other libraries.

You can order an interlibrary loan if you are a registered customer of Äänekoski Library. Remember to check first that the Central Libraries do not have the material you want in their collections! Please note that with a free regional reservation you can order material on the shelf from other Central Libraries. A fee of €4,00 is charged for interlibrary loans. More about remote service.
