Children's and young people's cultural message
Äänekoski has a cultural program for children and young people, the aim of which is to support children and young people and their families who have experienced incompetence due to illness or social reasons, for example. The message is aimed at 0-15 year olds and families. The referral can be issued by professionals working with children and young people, such as health nurses, school curators, service supervisors and special education teachers. Äänekoski is one of the pioneers when it comes to introducing cultural referrals for children and young people.
Art and culture have been studied to have many effects that support the well-being of children and young people. Participation in, for example, art, music or dance hobbies supports the development of children and young people. The positive effects of the art hobby include, for example, the development of interaction and emotional skills and the experiences of self-confidence, joy and ability. For families, joint activity in art develops family interaction, teaches new skills and brings joy to everyday life.
Cultural transmission is given to a child, young person or family primarily on social grounds. It does not replace other help or is an alternative to it, but an additional tool for those working with children, young people and families in challenging situations. When a professional who encounters a child or young person notices that he or she could benefit from an art hobby, a referral is available. The message is given to bring joy to life, strengthen social skills, belonging to the community or positive interaction in the family.
The broadcast is financed by Äänekoski's cultural activity.
