Street lighting

The city's street lighting is controlled automatically. The lighting turns on and off according to the brightness sensors and within the time programs. The city has more than 7000 street light poles and lamps. There are more than 100 street light centers.
The street lights are turned off every summer from Monday of the 20th week to Friday of the 31st week. Street lights are turned off from mid-May to early August.
Night time shutdowns
Street lighting has a night-time switch-off time, which has been extended from 21.00:7.00 p.m. to 22.30:XNUMX a.m. due to the city's economic adjustment measures (normally XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. to 5.00). During these times, one third of the street lighting is operational. As a rule, every third pole lights up at night.
Street light service and maintenance
The city maintains the street lights every year in autumn and winter.
In addition to this, the maintenance company replaces and repairs individual street lights based on defect reports throughout the year. During maintenance rounds and repair work, street lights may also have to be turned on during the day in order to localize burned out lamps and faults.
Äänekosken Kiinteistönhoito Oy is responsible for the maintenance of the city's street lighting. Maintenance includes e.g.:
- Replacement of burned out bulbs.
- Column renewals.
- Crash damage repairs.
- Lighting and cabling renovations.
