Council

City council members and deputies (councilors and deputy councilors) for the current term were elected in the 2021 municipal elections. The term of office began on 1.8.2021 August 31.5.2025 and ends on 2025 May XNUMX. The next municipal elections will be held in April XNUMX.

There are 43 councilors in the council, 12 of whom are in their first term. There are 19 women in the council and 24 men.

On June 10.6.2024, 36 (Section 2025), the council has decided that 35 councilors will be elected to the council in the XNUMX municipal elections.

Council meetings start at 18.00:XNUMX p.m. and the meeting place is the council hall of Äänekoski town hall, unless a different start time or place is announced separately. 

The council's meetings are public, unless the meeting deals with a matter or a document that is regulated by law to be kept secret, or unless the council otherwise decides otherwise in some matter due to a compelling reason.
