Benefits for new residents

A moving package is available for those moving to Äänekoski, which welcomes the new residents to the city, provides basic information about the city's services and offers tangible benefits. The city of Äänekoski invests in the "Good life for residents" theme, which aims to improve the quality of the residents' everyday life. The Ämpäreittäin höhä äääää campaign launched in 2023 supports this theme.

During 2024, those who move to Äänekoski will receive an ecological bucket and a printed towel with Äänekoski designs. The bucket is handed over at a coffee event for new residents, and 1 per household is distributed.

The hobbies of the children of families moving to Äänekoski are supported with a gift card worth 50 euros, which can be used, for example, for the annual fee of a local sports club, organization or association. A gift card is issued once to every person under the age of 15 who has moved to Äänekoski.

Regardless of age, everyone who moved to Äänekoski gets two one-time tickets to the city's swimming pools and two tickets to the city's museums. In addition, local companies are given the opportunity to offer introductory benefits and discounts as part of the moving package.

Baby money

The city of Äänekoski gives baby money to all newborns in Äänekoski. Baby money is 100 euros and is given in the form of a gift card. The baby allowance and a small gift given in addition to it are distributed during the child's first counseling visit, and it does not need to be applied for separately.

The city of Äänekoski also remembers the first baby of the year.

Junior and senior card

Äänekoski is known as a sports city, and therefore it is only natural that the city supports sports opportunities for residents of all ages. 

The junior card, intended for people under 18 years of age, allows access to the city's swimming pools and gyms for an affordable annual price of 75 euros. 

With the senior card, swimming halls and gyms are more affordable for those over 65 and older at an affordable annual price of 75 euros.

Club activity of the Finnish model of hobby

Äänekoski is participating in the national competition The Finnish model of hobby in the project, which enables versatile school hobby activities in Äänekoski. In Äänekoski, hobby activities according to the project are carried out in seven schools: Hietama, Honkola, Koivisto, Konginkanka, Koulunmäki, Sumiainte and Suolahti unified schools.

Study grant

The city of Äänekoski annually awards a study scholarship of 350 euros to young people aged 18-29 who study elsewhere, but keep Äänekoski as their official home municipality. The scholarship aims to support and maintain the relationship of young people studying and living elsewhere with their hometown. The scholarship is awarded annually based on applications. The search begins after the turn of the year and will be announced in January on the website of the city of Äänekoski.

Season tickets

The city of Äänekoski offers free season tickets for the matches of Huima, Urho and Kipinä. You can borrow a season ticket from the Äänekoski main library with a library card. 

During the season, the city of Äänekoski organizes a free title match with cooperation agreement teams for its residents!

Free culture for all ages

The city of Äänekoski organizes free events and concerts, such as Äänekoske Äksön, children's cultural days and the Flowers for the Elderly event.

Cultural education plan Kulttuurikoski guarantees all Äänekoski children the same opportunities to participate in cultural activities. Starting from kindergarten and progressing step by step in primary school, the goal-oriented entity introduces children and young people to a wide range of different art forms, local cultural offerings and the cultural heritage of the region.

Support for water management

Thanks to the membership of Äänekoski's Keski-Suomen vesi ja omäistä ry, it is also possible for municipal residents to receive support from the association for water management projects at a reduced price, for example guidance on how to proceed with the project preparations, advice on where to apply for assistance for the project, and help in preparing a funding application and project plan. In addition, the association offers residents of the member municipalities a water sampling service at a cheaper price.

Elonkierto community garden

The plot and properties of the delightful Elonkierto community garden are owned by Äänekoskenkaupunki, but it is run by the community. The garden has many possibilities - you can organize events there, grow your own plants and spend time in the middle of nature!

Everyone has to take care of the seedlings and seeds to be planted in the garden, but the garden will have water for shared use and everyone can use the soil pile on the edge of the lake. The planting boxes and the potato field are distributed among the users every spring. Other crops from the garden, such as berries, herbs and apples, are free to collect.
