Information about the school
Koivisto's school is inventive and vibrant, a genuine village school in the scenic fields of Koivistonkylä, near Hirvaskanga. Koivisto school is the southernmost school in Äänekoski, the distance from Jyväskylä is about 30 km. The number of students in the school is approx. 75, forming five basic education groups. There are ten teaching staff each year. In addition, an enthusiastic pre-school group works on the premises, and from the fall of 2024, kindergarten children will also be under the same roof.
The school uses the Perinnetalo (old school) renovated in 2017 and the new log school completed in 2019 as teaching facilities. In May 2024, an extension containing the kindergarten facilities was completed in connection with the school. The school yard will be renovated in the next few years.
Koivisto's school has a village school-like and cozy atmosphere - it's its own little world and a safe harbor! The premises are modern and the log walls create pleasant acoustics. The school has its own 200 square meter gymnasium and a small dining hall. There are also opportunities for exercise: you can ski in the winter on the lit piru track around the school, and in the summer you can hit frisbee golf discs on the 7-lane course around the school. The school yard will be further developed in the next few years.
The names of the school's interiors are named after the geographical locations of the surrounding area. In the lobby of the new school, there is a living room-like Koivula, whose stands and floor are filled with children every week for the joint open day. Koivisto's school has a genuine sense of community and here you know how to get together!
In a place of honor inside the school, there is a three-dimensional miniature model that not only serves as a guide map, but also reflects the playful atmosphere that prevails in the school. The miniature model is largely made of Legos and you can spot a janitor in trouble or a schoolboy enjoying a hearty lunch.
Koivisto's school has creativity, enthusiasm and a genuine atmosphere of working together. The people at Koivisto school easily "get excited" about new things and actively participate in various adventures. At the same time, the basic building blocks of teaching and pedagogy are solidly built. Koivisto school has reaped top results in terms of the staff's well-being at work, and it has been studied that the students also have a good time.
The new Muhlunniemi residential area has been zoned near the school, the plots of which will go on sale in the fall of 2024. The Muhlunniemi residential area offers spacious living on the shore of a clean lake, close to good transport connections and functioning nearby services. The new Muhlunniemi detached house area also offers lakeside lots and space for those who want more spacious living. The area follows a general plan and the plots are about half a hectare in size. A total of 18 private plots are coming up for sale, five of which have their own beach. It is possible to start construction on the plots in the fall of 2024. In Muhlunniemi, you can live a peaceful life in the middle of nature and close to the services, shops and diverse cultural and recreational areas of the vibrant city. The new residential area is located along Nelostie and excellent transport links, close to the services of Hirvaskanka. It takes only 30 minutes to drive to Jyväskylä.
The people at the school are full of enthusiasm and there is always a project going on. Currently, together with the children, an indoor playhouse is being built in the school hall, which is a miniature model of Perinnetalo's Little House in the yard district. It will be a children's reading corner and a small group work space. "Building permits" came from the city's technical department and the playhouse is made so that the floor is not damaged.
