Rules of use of Suolahti, Konginkanka and Sumiain self-service libraries
Self-help library is a library that customers can access even when the staff is not present, for example in the mornings, evenings and weekends. Information on the opening hours of Äänekoski self-service libraries can be found on the libraries' websites.
Logging
Log in to the self-help library with a valid Keski library card and PIN code. A library card and PIN code can be obtained from all Keski libraries during their service hours. The library card and PIN code are personal. Each customer logs in with their own card. The customer must ensure that no other persons enter at the same time as the door is opened, and that the doors are always locked both when entering and leaving the library. If the guardian visits the library with the children, it is enough for only the guardian to log in.
In the library, announcements are made about the start and end of self-employment time. After the end of the service period, the self-employed must log in again with a library card and PIN code. At the end of the self-employment period, you must leave the library space. Staying in the space causes an alarm and the customer is obliged to compensate the resulting costs.
A possible borrowing ban does not prevent logging into the self-service library. The use of the self-service library can be temporarily prevented if the customer causes a disturbance to the library's operation, endangers safety or damages the library's property (Public Libraries Act 238/2016).
Library staff guide customers in using the self-service library during service hours.
Self-employed services
You can borrow, return and pick up reservations with machines during self-service hours. The library's client computers and wireless network are available. In the space, you can read magazines and materials on site, work and study or have a small meeting. During self-service hours, the library may not organize general meetings or public events as referred to in the Assembly Act (530/1999), unless these have been separately agreed with the library.
There is no staff in the library during self-service hours, so services that require staff are not available. These services include, for example, paying fees or obtaining a library card. Library fees can also be paid online. The customer is obliged to clarify any problems that may have arisen when borrowing or returning during the library's service hours. Until then, the customer is responsible for the material registered on his card.
Terms of use
The library's rules of use are also valid during self-employment hours. The library is a public space where, in addition to the usage rules, the order law is observed. Among other things, the use of intoxicants, disturbing the order by e.g. making noise and threatening another person either physically or verbally are prohibited in the library. Each user is responsible for promoting general cleanliness, comfort and safety in the library. The customer is obliged to compensate for the damages he/she causes as well as the damages caused by persons accompanying him/her to the library without registering.
Customers of Suolahti, Konginkanka and Sumiainte self-service libraries are automatically all people over the age of 7 who have a Keski libraries library card and PIN code attached to it. It is possible for the guardian to block the use of Suolahti, Konginkanka or Sumiainte or, if necessary, all self-service libraries with the library card of their dependent under the age of 15.
In order to prevent the use of the self-help library, the guardian must submit the form for this purpose to any office of the Äänekoski library. The ban is valid for the time being and its removal must be requested separately from the library. Children under the age of 7 cannot use the self-service library with their own library card, but they do business in the self-service time accompanied by an adult.
The guardian must get to know the library facilities and safety with the children before the children use the facilities independently. The guardian is responsible for self-service library use with the child's library card. The guardian is also responsible for damages caused by persons who came in with the child without checking in.
Access and camera monitoring must be recorded in the library premises, and cameras can also be used for remote monitoring. The library's access and camera surveillance comply with the Data Protection Act (1050/2018) and the data protection statements are available on the city's website. Possible technical problems with computers and machines can only be solved when the staff is there.
The library's notice board has the property management's emergency number for possible problems with the property (for example, the front door won't lock). Emergency and exit instructions can be found in the library's rescue plan in the library space.
Äänekoski library can make changes to the opening hours and self-use instructions. Customers are informed about them through announcements in the library premises, on the library's website and on social media.
The customer can waive his right of self-use by personally visiting any Äänekoski library office to cancel his right of use.
