Youth work and facilities

The youth services of the city of Äänekoski organize diverse leisure activities and meeting places for young people. The task of youth services is to provide young people with information, support, counseling and to promote young people's participation and influencing opportunities.

Äänekoski's youth services organize activities in four youth facilities in different residential areas: Spotti Youth Center operates in Äänekoski, Suolahte Youth Facilities operates in Suolahte, Konginkankaa Youth Center Vapari and Sumipu Youth Center operates in Sumiais. 

Youth work is also done in mobile youth work- in the summer with Kesäkaara and in the winter mainly as a school collaboration. 

Äänekoski youth services also organizes for young people, e.g. clubs, trips, events and camps. 

Äänekoski Outreach youth work supports young people at turning points in life and in problematic situations.

Spotti Youth Center - Äänekoski center

Spot organizes a wide range of activities, events and other activities for young people, always taking into account the wishes of young people. Spot has weekly open-door evenings, when you can come and spend your free time together with your friends. The activity is intended for middle schoolers and older, mainly minors. 6th graders can participate in activities with their own 6 club and open doors at limited times (until 18 p.m.).

You can listen to music, do crafts or watch the TV in the lobby. Spot offers opportunities for e.g. for playing billiards, table tennis and console and computer games. There is also a sports hall where you can play sahle and other ball games. If you have your own idea or wish, please feel free to tell the instructors, and we will try to make it happen. Next year, 2025, Spot's facilities will be replaced by completely new city youth facilities, which will be completed in connection with the new Koulunmäki school's C-building! In addition to recycling and energy saving, the building's versatility plays an important role. The new, modern youth space will be made just for the users, and they will also include, for example, convertible cafe space. Ala-Keitele's music college will also get new facilities in the school building that is being completed.

Suolahti youth facilities - Suolahti center

Suolahti's youth facilities offer young people their own personal and safe place where they can meet friends and youth workers. It is possible to play various games on the premises, such as billiards, ping-pong, and console and computer games. You can play music in the band room during the opening hours of the facilities. The farms also organize a variety of different thematic activities together with young people. 

The activity is intended for middle schoolers and older, mainly minors. 6th graders can participate in activities in their own 6th Club and open doors at limited times (until 18 p.m.).

Youth center Vapari - Konginkanka center

Vapari is a cozy place for children and young people to spend their free time. At the house, you can play various games, listen to music, watch TV, movies, do homework or just meet friends and hang out. You can also participate in Vapari's youth activities, which are organized in a variety of ways, always taking into account the wishes of young people.

Youth center Sumppu - Sumiainen center

Sumpu is a place where you can spend your time playing, chatting or otherwise just hanging out. The Sumppu Youth Center also organizes a variety of guided activities that you can participate in if you wish, such as various game tournaments or competitions.

6-klubi - Activities of 6th graders in Spot and Suolahti 

At the 6-club, the youth facilities are only open to 6th graders. 6-clubs are held at the Youth Center Spot and at the Suolahti youth facilities on Thursdays from 14:17 to XNUMX:XNUMX. Please note that there are no activities in the summer and during public holidays.

In the 6-club, we do all the fun things together, such as crafts, exercise and baking. Club members can use all the games in the youth facilities, e.g. a pool and ping-pong table, as well as console and board games. There is also a kiosk on the premises where you can buy inexpensive snacks. 

Please remember to bring the permission slip filled out by the guardian when you participate in the activity for the first time, which you can get from the youth worker if necessary.

Mobile youth work and Kesäkaara

Mobile youth work operates in the center of Äänekoski and in green areas. In the summer, activities are organized, for example, at sports facilities, beaches and other leisure places for young people, as well as at various events. At other times, mobile youth work starts e.g. to primary and secondary schools around Äänekoski.
