The city of Äänekoski is a pioneer in entrepreneurship education in Finland. In Äänekoski, preschool education, all schools and high schools use the Entrepreneurship Education Path entrepreneurship education curriculum. Local sponsored companies are a significant resource and cooperation with the local business community is close. In accordance with the national curriculum, entrepreneurship and working life skills must be taught in all schools in Finland. Äänekoski's entrepreneurship curriculum supports the national curriculum - it works a bit like an Äänekoski supplement. At Äänekoski, they want to do a little more than elsewhere and invest in entrepreneurship education in a planned and long-term way. Entrepreneurship education also supports other learning and enlivens different subjects.

In Äänekoski, entrepreneurship education is now a central and functional part of the everyday life of every Äänekoski school - every subject and every school level, regardless of the teacher. The new curriculum is binding and it also makes it easier for new teachers coming to Äänekoski to get started with entrepreneurship education.

The curriculum has concretely listed various functional teaching contents for different grade levels, from preschool to high school. In addition to theory, the schools also go outside the school walls, get to know Äänekoski's business field and learn important networking skills in working life.

The goal of entrepreneurship education is by no means that everyone is wanted to become entrepreneurs of the future. Various work life skills and training for inner entrepreneurship will become part of the everyday life of Äänekoski schools. Skills can be, for example, being able to identify and talk about one's own strengths and skills. You can recognize in yourself, for example, that you are not suited to be an entrepreneur.

With entrepreneurship education, we want above all to support children and young people in building a future of their own, and help everyone find their own strengths, foster a positive entrepreneurial attitude and promote the emergence of internal entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship education is also implemented in Äänekoski in close cooperation with partner and sponsor companies. Young people are also supported in finding summer jobs and summer entrepreneurship.

Äänemessut is the city's entrepreneurship education's own fair event, which is implemented in cooperation between entrepreneurship education and the city. Young summer entrepreneurs can also market their products and services at the fair.

The entrepreneurship education path is in accordance with the Äänekoski city strategy, when one of the main goals of the strategy is effective livelihoods, which are also implemented with comprehensive entrepreneurship education.

The entrepreneurship curriculum will be updated annually to keep up with the times. In order to monitor and develop the work, the entrepreneurship education steering group "Yrkkänyrkki" will be established, which includes representatives of the city's education, vitality and employment unit, the city's management and representatives of local entrepreneurs.

Early childhood education and preschool education

There are nine daycare centers in Äänekoski with full-day care groups for children aged 1-3 and 3-6. Preschool education usually starts in August. Pre-school education is given four or five days a week.

Basic education and schools

The town of Äänekoski has five basic education elementary schools and two unified schools. We invest especially in entrepreneurship education from pre-school to high school, cultural education and the teaching of well-being skills. Riihimäki general upper secondary school

At Äänekoski high school, we learn the basics of life and prepare for further studies and the future working life. In a high school of about 300 students, we know each other and the atmosphere is safe and confidential. The 90-year-old high school has long traditions, but the high school building is new and modern. At Äänekoski high school, we study, gain insight, gather inspiration and have fun together. Vocational and other education

In the Äänekoski area, you can receive instruction in several different fields of study at the Northern Central Finland Vocational College. Open higher education is offered by Jyväskylä Open University. In addition, basic art education is given at Ala-Keitele's music college.

Teaching well-being skills

Sound fair
