The Äänekoski reception center will move from Suolahti to the center of Äänekoski
The Äänekoski reception center will move from Suolahti to the center of Äänekoski during the fall. From Suolahti, both the reception services and all customers will move completely to Äänekoski.
The reception center is currently looking for office space in the center for its operations. The city of Äänekoski rents more apartments for customers. Most of the reception center's customers already live in the center of Äänekoski in rental apartments of the city-owned Ääneseudun Asunnot Oy. The reception center in Äänekoski is run by Hemcare Oy under the Finnish Immigration Service.
The municipalities take care of the early childhood education and teaching services for the children and young people of the reception center. In Äänekoski, children at the reception center can start their preparatory education for basic education as early as August 29.8.2022, XNUMX. In preparatory basic education, the teaching is focused on the Finnish language and Finnish culture. Some of the children are still completing their country's compulsory education remotely.
The city of Äänekoski has hired three Finnish teachers and three Ukrainian school attendance assistants, who also know English, for teaching groups. Teaching takes place in their own groups at Koulunmäki Unified School in Äänekoski. For children traveling from Suolahti during the fall, school rides are arranged on public bus routes paid for by the city.
The city of Äänekoski will continue to provide free bus transportation between Suolahti and Äänekoski for the reception center's customers. Free shifts are run on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will also continue to be given free pool tickets as needed.
