- The bulletin advises citizens on how to act in the event of a major accident. All the instructions in the bulletin are important, so I would like to emphasize that do not lose it, but keep it, practice and go through the procedures at home and at work. In the event of a major accident, the authority cannot help everyone individually. Individuals are also required to take the measures described in the bulletin, reminds the fire engineer of Central Finland's rescue service Panu Nurmivaara.
The rescue service prepares external rescue plans in cooperation with production facilities engaged in large-scale chemical processing and storage in case of possible accidents and dangerous situations. Metsä Group and Nouryon carry out large-scale chemical processing and storage in the Äänekoski factory area. The regulation issued on the basis of the Chemicals Act and the Rescue Act requires that an updated plan be shared in the area affected by the risk of a major accident at least every five years.
- Metsä Group is a big operator in this region, but this is not ours alone, but all the operators in the factory area have participated in the preparation of the safety bulletin together with the rescue service. Safety is something we all share. It is always the most important and goes ahead of production in the order of march, states the area safety manager of Metsä Group's Äänekoski bioproduct factory Erkki Liimatainen.
