Metsä Group informs:
Metsä Wood and SRV have signed an agreement for the construction of the Kerto LVL factory in Äänekoski

Metsä Wood and the construction company SRV have signed an agreement for the implementation of Metsä Wood's new Kerto LVL factory in Äänekoski. SRV acts as the main implementer in the project, and it is implemented as a cooperative project management contract.
- Our choice of partner was especially influenced by SRV's expertise in industrial project construction and the contract model based on close cooperation, says Metsä Wood's branch manager Jaakko Anttila.
Metsä Wood decided to build a new plywood factory in June, and the preparatory work in the factory area has progressed as planned. The employment effects of the construction phase of the project are estimated to be around 1 person-years. When completed, the factory will employ approximately 000 people directly and 150 people in its direct value chain. The factory is estimated to start up in the second half of 200. The factory's annual production capacity is approximately 2026 cubic meters of kerto wood, which increases the company's Kerto LVL capacity by approximately 160 percent.
- The Äänekoski kertowood factory is implemented with a modern cooperative contract format, which is clearly becoming more common in industrial projects due to its advantages. In the development phase, we have carried out the planning and coordination of the project in close and good cooperation with the customer, and now we can move to the implementation phase, says the head of SRV's regional units Hannu Lokka.
