The climate workshop for decision-makers offered information and tools
"We want to take care of our environment so that we can leave it better for future generations"
On September 25.9.2023, XNUMX, a climate workshop was organized for the decision-makers of the city of Äänekoski. The goal was to provide trustees with information and tools to support decision-making and to explain why climate and environmental work, preserving biodiversity and promoting the circular economy are important.
The results of the workshop will be delivered to the participants, and the management team of the city of Äänekoski will discuss the measures devised by the decision-makers. The results are also used in Central Finland's climate work and are presented as a pilot to other Central Finnish municipalities.
- There was a really active discussion and in good spirits, and we got a lot of new ideas, climate coordinator Juho Liimatainen rejoices.
- Climate work is largely about consuming less and using energy and material more efficiently, so that less waste is created. It also brings financial savings, which is especially important at the moment.
One of the main goals of Äänekoski's city strategy is a sustainable environment, and the goal is to be a carbon-neutral city by 2030. We want to take care of our environment so that we can leave it better for future generations.
- We cannot stay out of these talks. Let's guarantee a good future for our children, environmental manager Hanna Ahonen toteaa.
- The true responsibility of the organization begins where the law ends.
The decision-makers' workshop was part of the Sustainable Life Äänekoski project funded by the Ministry of the Environment. In Äänekoski, the design agency 2Loops was involved in implementing the workshop.
