Äänekoski is a great hobby town!
Family story - The children of the Honkonen family do a lot of different things

Jonna ja Mikko Honkonen the family does a lot of hobbies and the whole family is satisfied with the hobby opportunities in Äänekoski. The children of the big family, Jasmiina 12, Enniina 11, Jaakko 8, Eevertti 6, Oliveri 3, and Vihtori 11 months, have all been satisfied with Äänekoski's leisure services, schools and kindergartens.

Koskela, the music school, sports clubs and the parish also organize a lot of good hobbies in Äänekoski, in which the Honkonen family has participated. There are many hobbies in the family, e.g. weightlifting, wrestling, ice hockey, hockey school, sähli, football, sports club and muscari, as well as volunteer fire brigade activities. One of the children started in Äänekoski youth theater Varjolapsi. Other sports and the project on children's movement that started in Äänekoski are also interesting, but there is not much new to fit into the hobby schedules anymore.
- In Äänekoski, there is even a lack of abundance in hobbies, because it is not possible to do all the fun things at the same time, says Jonna Honkonen, the mother of the family.

Hobbies are cheap and easy in Äänekoski, because everything is nearby. The family is keen on swimming and cycling. The family goes a lot to the numerous swimming beaches and both swimming halls in Äänekoski. New Rantapuisto playground, Huuha family park and other playgrounds are to my liking. The nature trails have also become familiar, and the father of the family, Mikko Honkonen, goes frisbee golfing in Liikuntapuisto and near home at Honkola school.

- Swimming, in particular, is our family's thing, and the city's annual 75 euro swimming card is really good and affordable. When the boys were small, we also went to baby swimming here, says Jonna Honkonen.
Äänekoski's cycling routes are good, and the children often cycle from home to school and to their hobbies. In addition, the trips organized by the city's youth program have been popular with older children.

"There are great services here"
- We found a wonderful home on a large plot in Äänekoski nine years ago and moved here from Jyväskylä. We have loved living here. The commute to Jyväskylä is convenient, there are great services here, and nothing is missing. Even a bowling alley and a cinema, which is absolutely perfect, says Jonna Honkonen.

The family lives in the Myllyperä residential area, where they found their dream home. The children go to school in Honkola and pre-school is at Koulunmäki school. The family's mother works three shifts, so round-the-clock care has been received from Mikonpuisto's daycare center.
- My husband's day job, my three-shift job and six children with their hobbies is quite a daily grind. Mikko drives the children in the evenings, but fortunately we have good bike routes and the road to school is safe, and Eskari's student can get a taxi ride from home, Jonna Honkonen says.

The school often goes swimming and skiing with the students in Äänemäki, which is a great investment from the city for the parents.
- We have a small and wonderful little school. The school in Honkola has clubs and there is a shed in the yard. In winter, you can go down the hill and skate at school, sixth grader Jasmiina Honkonen says. He has also applied to join the Äänekoski city youth council, because he is interested in influencing.
