Environmental issues are close to Hanna Ahonen's heart
The Äänekoski city council elected a new environmental manager Hanna Ahonen. Ahonen has worked as the city's environmental inspector since 2019 and has replaced the environmental manager since February.
Ahonen has a doctorate in philosophy. He has a dissertation at the University of Jyväskylä on aquatic sciences and in his dissertation researched fish spore parasites. In addition to his work as a researcher, before coming to Äänekoski, Ahonen has worked at the Natural Resources Center and Central Finland ELY Center.
- During my doctoral studies, I became interested in official duties, he says. - I've been interested in nature since I was little, and it's such an important thing for me. As a city official, I can do concrete things for the environment.
The city of Äänekoski has been a pleasant workplace for Ahonen. - Äänekoski is a suitably sized and vibrant city, where work tasks are versatile. You don't have to do them alone when we have three employees on the environmental side.
The environmental manager acts as the environmental board's presenter and supervisor for the six employees of environmental and building control.
Ahonen appreciates that the people of Aunekoski are active and interested in environmental issues, and often contact the environmental side about issues that concern them.
