The daily life of the Äänekoski reception center runs smoothly in the new premises
The move of the Äänekoski reception center from Suolahti to Äänekoski during the fall went well and now everyday life runs smoothly in the new premises.

People from the city of Äänekoski visited the reception center's new premises on Torikatu. The cooperation between the city and the reception center has worked well, and information is exchanged regularly at the meetings of the Ukrainian crisis management group of the city of Äänekoski.
The reception center's clients living in Suolahti rented apartments from the city-owned Ääneseudun Asunno. The apartments are in the center, no more than three kilometers from the reception center's new office premises. The office premises were moved from Suolahti to Torikatu in the center of Äänekoski.
Most of the clients of the reception center are Ukrainian families with children, and more are expected. The Äänekoski reception center currently has around 30 places available for new residents, while the total capacity is 300 people.
The reception center in Äänekoski is run by Hemcare Oy under the Finnish Immigration Service, which has been able to recruit employees well. Some recruitments are still ongoing. The Laukaa reception center also operates under the Äänekoski reception center. Hemcare Oy also manages the municipal model customers of Northern Central Finland, i.e. the customers live in the municipalities and receive reception center services through Hemcare.
The municipalities take care of the early childhood education and teaching services for the children and young people of the reception center. In Äänekoski, the preparation for basic education has continued to go well and the children have learned the Finnish language quickly. Now, after the move, school transportation from Suolahti to Äänekoski no longer needs to be arranged. There are some children in early childhood education and pre-school, and the Children's groups in daycare centers are getting quite full.
There has been active participation in language training for adults, but the employment of the clients of the reception center has been rather slow. According to the new bill, clients of temporary protection would become clients of municipalities and the municipal experiment as of February 1.2.2023, XNUMX in terms of employment services.
When clients of temporary protection have lived in Finland for a year, they can apply for a residence municipality. In Äänekoski, the first customers can apply for a home municipality registration next spring. In this case, as new municipal residents, they can e.g. Within the scope of Kela's usual benefits, they would no longer be customers of the reception center.
The city of Äänekoski has continued to offer free tickets to the swimming hall and the museum to the customers of the reception center. Ukrainian children's and youth's hobby activities have been supported with city donations, and Kulttuuriaita has received support for an art workshop, which also functions as art therapy.
