Everyone can have fun!

Hobby groups for children and young people start in September at all schools in Äänekoski
Free and versatile hobby activities are again organized at all seven primary schools in Äänekoski. Äänekoski has received a grant of 160 euros from the Board of Education for this year's hobby activities for children and young people according to the Finnish model of hobbying, and the city's co-responsibility share is 000%.
The aim of the Finnish model of hobby is to support the well-being of children and young people by enabling every child and young person to have a pleasant and free hobby during the school day. From the beginning of 2023, new regulations were added to the Youth Act regarding youth hobby activities according to the model of Hobby Finland, as well as the state subsidy granted for the activity.
This fall's hobby groups start running mainly in September. Hobby offer and group-specific registrations will be available soon From Äänekoski's peda.net. More information will also be available through Wilma. A new Facebook page has been opened for Äänekoski hobby group activities All to do in Äänekoski and you can follow the account on Instagram all about_aanekoski.
Hobby activities are organized as soon as possible at the end of the school day, usually on the school premises or near the school between 12 and 17 p.m. Hobby groups usually meet weekly.
The goal is to increase children's well-being through a pleasant hobby. A student survey is conducted every two years, and the wishes of children and young people are tried to be fulfilled as much as possible.
- At least the skiing and bowling groups have been very popular among elementary and middle school students, coordinator Susanna Tuhkala says.
The children are insured on behalf of the school during hobby groups.
Come along and inspire young people to take up new hobbies!
The city of Äänekoski is currently looking for new hobby group instructors for the 2023-2024 school year. The instructor can be familiar with the topic of the group due to his profession or hobby. The instructor must be at least 18 years old. If you would like to offer Äänekoski's schools a recreational activity of the Finnish model of recreation, feel free to contact the coordinator.
The city of Äänekoski is now recruiting e.g. swimming, gymnastics, parkour, skiing and snowboarding instructors.
- Instructors of hobby groups are trained in cooperation with local sports clubs. We work closely with local sports clubs, the parish and AKMO. It's great that we've gotten different actors involved in Äänekoski, thanks Susanna Tuhkala.
