The Innovative learning environments in early childhood education project has brought the New reading skills development program to the everyday life of Äänekoski daycare centers starting in autumn 2021. The goal is to develop children's and staff's digital skills in practice, media literacy and programming skills.
Two pilot groups from Äänekoski daycare centers, Katvela and Piilola, also join the project. The teachers of the groups already had digital skills and the enthusiasm to try out new things and equipment. In the fall, a few planning meetings were held with a small planning group, where ideas, instructions and thoughts were shared about how the pilot groups could practically implement the New Literacy website descriptions.
As equipment, a few iPads, a GreenScreen backdrop, a photography stand and an external microphone were purchased for the pilot groups. The pilot groups carried out different projects under the leadership of teachers related to strengthening practical digital skills, media literacy and programming skills.
In the video, the teachers of the pilot groups briefly talk about the activities of their groups, and there is also material about doing and the work done.
The description of the video was made by early childhood education teachers Aden Kariuki ja Michelle Seppälä. Video editing and background music: Juha Neck.
