Competent workforce for companies with an apprenticeship contract
The Opsopankki project accelerates the utilization of the apprenticeship contract
- The problem here in Äänekoski is that there are open jobs, but there are people who can find them. We would like to remind employers that the apprenticeship contract can also be used in recruitment and with the apprenticeship contract you can get a competent and motivated workforce for the company's needs, says Eeva-Monica Isoluoma, project manager of the Opsopankki project.
Student candidates from Äänekoski have been interviewed in advance and only motivated and able-bodied employees are offered to the companies. The employer can personally interview the employees proposed to them, and the employer does not have to commit for a long time, but can offer an apprenticeship for a short period of time, in which case the student can complete part of his studies. Apprenticeship students are paid a salary according to TES. It is possible for the company to apply for financial support for organizing an apprenticeship, and in addition, it is possible to apply for an Äänekoski supplement.
- After the employer and the employee have "said to each other the will", we help in the search for subsidies, in matters of the educational institution's apprenticeship and, if necessary, keep in touch during the studies, according to the customer's needs. Communication is usually at the beginning of studies, Eeva-Monica Isoluoma describes. - It remains the employer's task to assign the apprentice a workplace supervisor.
There are currently less than 10 apprentices in the Opsopankki project, but the plan is to increase the number. - At Opsobank, we now have more than 40 customers, and most of them are 30-50 years old, who for some reason have dropped out of their studies. Now they have a strong desire to get a job and complete a professional degree, and they have also calmly thought about the field that suits everyone in advance, says Eeva-Monica Isoluoma.
- The purpose of this project is to push people forward in their lives, and the mapping of motivation and suitable field has been done carefully in advance. After the decisions about the apprenticeship place have been made with the company, we move forward briskly, project worker Maarit Polmio describes.
With the apprenticeship contract, an employee who knows the company's needs is trained. The Opsopankki project of the city of Äänekoski wants to take full advantage of the apprenticeship opportunity, and the project strongly promotes its utilization. In the project, a "job bank" will be built in Äänekoski, which will bring together companies that could offer an apprenticeship when a suitable employee is found, as well as unemployed job seekers who are motivated to study for a degree while working.
Close cooperation is currently being carried out with Poke and Gradia, and cooperation with other educational institutions is also successful.
The project is financed by the city of Äänekoski and the European Social Fund.
