Äänekoski's decision-makers are offered up-to-date training on the forest and its possibilities
A three-part training on forest bioeconomy is organized for councilors of the city of Äänekoski.
The first part of the Forest Academy training for municipal decision-makers will be held remotely on Thursday, November 18.11. with the topic "The importance of forests for well-being".
In just over two weeks, 2.12. is the main event of the whole at the Äänekoski town hall with the theme "New wood-based solutions and the possibilities of wood construction". In the same context, the opening of the Uusi puu exhibition is celebrated. It will be possible for city residents and for example people from educational institutions to get to know the Uusi puu exhibition later.
The last day of training is next year.
The goal of the training is to provide Äänekoski's decision-makers with a versatile information package on the role and potential of forests in building a sustainable bioeconomy, as well as support networking and strengthen dialogue on the sustainable use of forests in municipalities.
Forests are a valuable asset for municipalities because they offer solutions from many perspectives: forests curb climate change, maintain diversity, revitalize and move people every day, and produce versatile well-being and services, work and income. The transition from a fossil-based economy to a bio-based economy requires courage, multidisciplinary cooperation and the acceptance of society as a whole. The sustainable and intelligent use of forests and wood offers opportunities to innovate and build well-being based on the bioeconomy in municipalities.
The Forest Academy training for municipal decision-makers is organized by the Finnish Forest Association and the New Tree project.
