Äänekoski will receive the SM skiing in 2024
The Finnish Ski Federation awarded the 2024 general series SM skiing to Äänekoski.
The investment of the city of Äänekoski in making the games a reality is significant, and without the city's commitment as a partner of the games, the games could not be organized. In accordance with the decision of the City Council, the city of Äänekoski commits to cooperation with the Äänekoski Huima ry related to the organization of the 2024 ski championships, so that the total costs to the city are a maximum of 100 euros.

Äänekoski Huima's tallow work also plays a significant role in all projects related to the organization of the Games, which is a significant cost-reducing factor. The main responsibility for the organization of the SC Games lies with the Äänekoski Huima ski division, which works in cooperation with the city of Äänekoski.
The city of Äänekoski benefits from the televised games, especially in the form of positive visibility, and it also strengthens versatile event activities in accordance with the Äänekoski effect of the city strategy.

- It's great that Äänekoski and especially Äänekoski Huima are perceived as partners worthy of trust in the Ski Association. The previous SC ski event organized in Äänekoski was a great success measured by any measure, city manager Matti Tuononen says.
The last time the SM competitions were held in the village three years ago. The competitions were very successful from the point of view of competitors, audience, partners and organizers. We have solid experience in organizing mass events and the 2019 games gathered a large audience and brought Äänekoski wide visibility. The skiing conditions in Äänekoski have also improved since three years ago.
- I believe that together we will succeed in building a great event again, Tuononen adds.
The exact date and routes of the SM skiing will be decided in the summer of 2023.
