The well-being of the people of Äänekoski is now the number one priority in Päivi Kivelä's work
Has started as the welfare coordinator of the city of Äänekoski Päivi Kivelä, its predecessor Taina Laitinen moving to his new job teaching and researching at the University of Jyväskylä.
Päivi Kivelä from Jyväskylä has a long work experience with knowledge of the core of promoting well-being. He has worked in development and research projects in knowledge-based management, regional development and welfare promotion. Kivelä is a sociologist by training and has a PhD in social sciences, and in 2012 he completed his dissertation on the research project Resources, locality and life course, and he is interested in the effects of social entities and structures on the everyday life of ordinary people.
- I'm interested in meeting people and doing a good everyday life, and this job as a welfare coordinator combines both of them, and in addition, management with information and connecting networks, Kivelä says.
The task of the welfare coordinator is to strengthen the welfare services left in the city after the change in social security, i.e. teaching and education services, culture, sports and other leisure services, the cooperation of different actors in the area and the participation of the residents of Äänekoski.
Kivelä originally comes from Kyyjärvi, where he still has a small homestead, and through that he has also followed the activities of the city of Äänekoski.
- Äänekoski's city strategy The Äänekoski phenomenon has impressed me, because there is a genuine desire to hear and involve the residents and involve them in the implementation of the strategy. Participation increases the residents' experience of justice. Even difficult decisions are easier to accept when the process has been open, the backgrounds have been justified and people have been genuinely consulted and involved, Kivelä thinks.
- Äänekoski has also been very capable of renewal. Through city communication, an open and inviting atmosphere has been conveyed and it has aroused interest in getting to know Äänekoski more, says Kivelä.
After the first weeks, Kivelä's impression of the new work community is full of work, busy and dedicated. In his free time, Kivelä enjoys nature and various cultural experiences, live music and likes to retreat to country life at his homestead in Kyjyjärvi. The family includes a child and a dog, Minttu and Ville.
You can meet Päivi Kivelä at inclusive events and forums in the city, such as at Ilmiökahvei. The next Ilmiökahvit will be at the town hall on Friday 14.6.2024 June 13 from 14.30:XNUMX to XNUMX:XNUMX, welcome!
