Äänekoski will get more charging stations for electric cars during this year

Äänekoski will have more charging stations for electric cars by the end of this year, 2024. The purchase of charging stations is part of the active climate and environmental work of the city of Äänekoski. We take care of our environment so that we can leave it better for future generations.
The charging stations will be used by the city's own staff and everyone else, and everyone will pay for charging according to usage.
- Äänekoski has recently received many more charging stations for electric cars, and the city of Äänekoski wants to be involved in the development. A good network of charging stations supports low-emission traffic and the growth of electric cars. What is special is that we are now also acquiring charging stations in the smaller towns of Konginkanka and Sumiais. All charging points in Finland are shown latauskartta.fi on the site, energy engineer Juha Saari says.
The operation will be operator-based, and the construction of charging stations will be tendered during this spring. The investment is considerable for the operator, and the city of Äänekoski supplies the electric connections for the stations.
There will be a total of five charging stations for electric cars in the urban areas of Äänekoski and Suolahti. The charging stations will be at Äänekoski high school, the town hall, the Mikonpuisto daycare parking lot and Äänekoski Liikuntapuisto, and the ice rink parking lot in Suolahti. In Sumiais, the charging station is coming to the parking area at the beginning of Taipalentie and to the parking area behind Sale in Konginkanga.
- The locations of the charging points have been planned for the city's own plots and they have been selected, for example, according to how many city personnel work in the area of influence of the charging station. In general, electric car drivers have the opportunity to charge their car at home, but charging stations can be used by all residents of Äänekoski. The charging stations also serve residents of nearby municipalities, summer residents of Äänekoski and tourists, says Saari.
- One charging station will have at least five chargers, which means that several passenger cars can be charging at the same time. The power of the charging stations varies between 22 and 100 kW, which means that an electric car can be charged quickly, even in an hour, but this is always a bit car-specific.
The chargers are used with the selected operator's mobile phone application or with an RFID tag. The user must register as a customer of the operator and the operator will also handle the invoicing of downloads.
The charging stations will be the property of the operator and the operator will also be responsible for their management and maintenance. The chargers will be branded in the colors of the city of Äänekoski.
