The city of Äänekoski invests in the well-being and everyday life of its residents
During the past summer, the city of Äänekoski has completed or is currently implementing numerous projects that support the well-being and everyday life of its residents.

Cooperation plays on Konginkanga
This summer, a new beach volleyball court was built on Konginkanka's Pohjoishieka, which has been a welcome addition to the sports facilities in the city of Äänekoski. Pohjoishiekka is located on the lands of the parish and on the same shore is Konginkanka's official beach. The city and the parish have a land use agreement for the area. The congregation has been a flexible partner as Konginkanka's large land owner, and last year a frisbee golf course was built on the parish's land with the help of a team of workers.
In the spring, an outdoor gym yard was completed in the port of Konginkanka and the maintenance booth of the Konginkanka sports field was enhanced. Last summer, a multipurpose arena was completed in the school yard and a fire hockey rink was purchased in Liimattala. In the coming years, the goal is to renovate the Konginkanka sports field and make it possible to play tennis again, which has been hoped for a long time.
In addition to Konginkanka, outdoor fitness gyms were added to Pankkari, Honkola school and Hietama laavu in the spring.

Improvements to the equipment of sports and cultural facilities
The city of Äänekoski also invested in swimming beaches during the summer. Now almost all swimming beaches and places in the Äänekoski area have new outdoor toilets. The new toilets are at the swimming beaches of Äänejärvi, Hietalahti, Kellonkanna, Koivisto, Likolahti, Pankkari and Takalahti. Among the swimming spots, Lintulahti, Nuorisotalo, Ruotinkylä, Suolahti harbor and Ääneniemi swimming spots, as well as Mämme's school beach got new toilets. For the same reason, an outdoor toilet was also purchased for the city's Elonkierto community garden on Eerolankatu.

In addition, the basic improvement of the Sumiainte sports field will now be completed during the fall, and it has been a long-awaited improvement. Suolahti's swimming hall now has a new jacuzzi and the swimming halls will again serve according to their usual opening hours. The basic improvement of the Liikuntapuisto stadium's athletics field and the stormwater renovation of the ski area are progressing well. The Äänemäki elevator project will start next week. The lighting renovation of Ensilumenlatu is ready for the coming ski season, and soon the renewed lighting on the artificial grass will be put into use.
The library's ventilation renovation is nearing completion, and the library will serve as usual again. The lighting renovation of the Äänekoski Art Museum was also carried out as planned at the beginning of the summer. The extensive renovation of the Cultural Center Painotalo will be completed during the fall.
