More activities and rides to the center for the young people of Äänekoski
The city of Äänekoski wants to involve and listen to young people. The wishes of last spring's hearing have already been implemented as far as possible and new activities have also been developed. Most wishes have not required a financial investment.
Youth facilities are more open on Saturdays
The youth cafe activity desired by the young people of Äänekoski has been thoroughly investigated. The youth cafe organized by the city will not be implemented according to the original plan, but the youth facilities in the center and Suolahti will be open more on Saturday evenings in the future.
Not enough volunteers could be found and the city organized a competition for running a youth cafe in the evenings in the city's youth facilities. The tender was aimed at those youth organizations that have received a grant from the city in 2023, as well as those organizations that in the spring of 2023 expressed their willingness to be involved in youth cafe activities.
One organization sent its offer by the deadline, but the city did not accept the offer in this economic situation due to its high price.
However, in order to meet the desire for a youth cafe, the city of Äänekoski has increased the Saturday opening hours of the Youth Center Spot and Suolahti youth facilities. K18 evenings have also been organized during the autumn. The city's youth services organize leisure activities and meeting place activities for young people in the center of Äänekoski at the Youth Center Spot and other youth facilities in Suolahti, Konginkanka and Sumiais.
You can buy coffee at a really cheap price at the youth facilities, and other food and drinks are also often available.
For example, Spot has weekly open-door evenings run by youth work professionals, where you can come and spend your free time together with your friends. In Spot, you can listen to music, do crafts or watch TV. Spot offers opportunities for e.g. for playing billiards, table tennis, air hockey and console and computer games. There is also a sports hall where you can play sahle and other ball games.
We want to promote the well-being of young people
At the youth hearing on March 22.3.2023, XNUMX, it emerged that young people wish for more events and activities, and that young people in green areas do not have enough things to do and hobby opportunities, especially in winter.
To respond to this problem, the city of Äänekoski is organizing a free bowling night at Pankkar on November 7, 9 for young people in grades 24.11.2023-XNUMX. The event is intended for young people coming from outside the Äänekoski central station, and they will be provided with free rides to the venue.
In addition, Kino Hirve will organize a movie night for all Äänekoski 7th-9th graders on December 16.12.2023, XNUMX, which also includes rides for young people from outside the city center. The movie is Vonkka.
Registration for bowling and movies is done through Wilma, and places are filled in the order of registration. Those who have registered will receive detailed timetables of the rides by e-mail.
Some procurements have now also been made for mobile and school youth work, which promote e.g. movement of young people and going out into nature. Eight Blazepods and two metal detectors have been purchased for youth services to move around and explore nature. Blazepods can be used to test rection speed and are well suited for moving around and for half-time activities.
- This type of activity is planned to be organized next year as well. Despite the city's austerity measures, we have money set aside for promoting youth welfare for the year 2024. Other youth work is being tried to remain unchanged despite the austerity measures, family center coordinator Petri Oinonen says.
- The city's youth services will continue to be happy to cooperate with youth organizations and associations that have shown an interest in working with young people.
The next youth consultation evening will be held in the spring of 2024.
