The operator of the Äänekoski reception center is changing
The Finnish Immigration Service has tendered its reception activities. The contracts of the reception centers that are ending their operations will be terminated and the operations of the directly procured reception centers will be transferred to a part of the operations of the centers that have already been put out to tender.
The Finnish Immigration Service will also transfer the operation of the Äänekoski reception center from the current Hemcare Oy to a tendered operator. The operator of the Äänekoski reception center will change at the end of April at the latest.
The goal of the Finnish Immigration Service is that, despite the change, there would be as few changes as possible in the accommodation arrangements of the customers, and that the customers would not have to move from one location to another. The operation of the reception center in Äänekoski is also planned to continue. However, negotiations on the change of service provider are still ongoing and more information will be provided later.
Hemcare Oy currently runs the reception center in Äänekoski. The reception center in Äänekoski currently has over 200 customers, and private accommodation in Äänekoski and nearby municipalities has just under 40 customers. Most of the clients of the reception center are refugees from Ukraine.
Ukrainians who receive temporary protection can apply for the right to the municipality of their home and become a municipality after staying continuously for one year in Finland. In Äänekoski, 130 Ukrainians have applied for the home municipality registration so far.
