The Äänekoski reception center is no longer accepting new customers
The Finnish Immigration Service has decided to no longer offer customer places in the reception centers in Äänekoski, Saarijärvi and Lauka. Consequently, the Äänekoski reception center will also close by the end of 2024 and the services of the reception center will cease.
However, many customers of the Äänekosken reception center want to stay in the municipality and live independently, and they can apply for a residence municipality registration. When clients of temporary protection have lived in Finland for a year, they can apply for a residence municipality. Therefore, according to the Äänekoski reception center, approximately 80 new municipal residents will come to Äänekoski this year.
With the change in the reception center, the need for immigrant services offered by the city may increase during this year and next year.
