The personnel of the city of Äänekoski is now guided by an international and attentive HR expert
Hanna Gore lets her team develop and shine

Has started as the Human Resources Manager of the City of Äänekoski Hanna Gore, 37, long-time HR director Arja-Leena Kriivarinmäki upon retirement.
Hanna Gore is an international and experienced HR expert. She holds an English Master of Science degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Liverpool. She studied Business Administration in Finland, went to the UK as an exchange student and stayed to study and work there. Gore has studied and worked in England for a total of six years.
Gore has worked in industrial, mining and construction jobs in Finland and abroad. Most recently, he spent six years at Valtra, where he was able to perform diverse HR tasks throughout the group and for all of the company's brands. He served as HR Director and Manager and led international HR projects. Gore implemented system changes, process development and harmonization projects in the group, among other things.
– I have never had such an international job before, as I do from home in Sumiainen on my computer, says Hanna Gore.
Hanna Gore is originally from Utajärvi. The family moved to Äänekoski six years ago for work and found a home in Sumiainen in the peace of nature. Hanna Gore's family consists of a husband and two small sons.
– Sumiainen is wonderfully beautiful and peaceful after the hustle and bustle of an English city.
The most important thing is good conditions and conditions for the success of the personnel.
The Human Resources Manager of the City of Äänekoski oversees the entire city staff, almost 800 employees, and is a member of the management team.
– Now I get to do similar work as before, but face to face with people. I want to work for the local community and the region, says Hanna Gore.
The difference between HR management in the corporate world and public administration has ultimately been quite small, because HR matters are mainly internal matters in the municipality as well. Professional and well-being personnel are the city's most important resource.
– This job is amazing because I get to see everything the city does in different industries and learn new things myself. The reception has been good and there are top professionals working here, says Gore.
– It is important for me to create good conditions and circumstances with clear goals and positive feedback so that the staff can succeed in their own work. As a leader, I strive to give everyone the space to work in their own way and independently. However, I want to be present and accessible when needed, Gore describes.
– HR and leadership are close to my heart because of the development of people. In this job, I get to systematically enable the development of people's skills, making their skills visible, and career development throughout the city.
Gore has started work in the city of Äänekoski just as the 13-municipal employment area of Northern Central Finland has started operating at the beginning of the year. Over 60 new employees were transferred to the city from the state. A cooperation procedure is currently underway, which concerns the personnel of the employment area that will be transferred from the state as a transfer of business, as well as the current personnel of the city's employment services.
– I welcome all our new employees. Together we will create a completely new kind of organization and develop the city of Äänekoski and the entire North Central Finland region, says Gore.
– First, I want to study the environment and what is being done here, and what would make sense to change and develop. I don't want to make reforms just for the sake of them, but the changes should always be useful, says Hanna Gore.
