Customer and service guidance for the elderly is improving in the welfare region of Central Finland
You can call the elderly hotline if you are worried about an elderly person surviving at home. By calling, you can start a service needs assessment, in which the elderly are searched for services that support them to manage at home.
The target group of the elderly helpline is elderly people living at home, who are concerned about managing at home, but who do not yet have services. If, on the other hand, the customer already has services coming home from the Central Finland welfare area, it is best to contact them directly.
You can call the elderly helpline if you think you need support to manage at home. Then, if the concern is about an urgent matter in the elderly's health condition or medical treatment, you should contact your own health center and, in emergencies, directly the emergency number 112.
The regional Elderly Helpline numbers correspond to 4.9. from 9 a.m. to 15 p.m. every weekday
In the welfare area of Central Finland, it has been made easier to get in touch with centralized customer and service guidance. Calls from new customers and the customer's work at home are separated from each other, and Igäintynine's hotlines are answered by full-time, experienced employees on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 15 p.m. Those already covered by the services have their own contact persons in the services.
- When moving to the welfare area, different municipalities used numbers whose call times were typically short. There were a lot of calls when the customer advisors were on home visits and they had to be answered between visits, says the service manager Riikka Röppänen from the Central Finland welfare area.
The reachability problem also concerned activities between authorities and within the welfare area. In addition to customers, the hotlines serve all actors and authorities that affect the well-being, health and safety of elderly people in Central Finland. For example, in patient discharge situations and in various service situations that came through the social or crisis emergency, it is now easier than before to contact the home to organize the necessary services.
"A customer who calls us may need help getting home, for example, if movement has become difficult or there has been a fall. Often there is a challenge in daily activities such as washing or taking medicine. Or if the memory doesn't work like it used to, eating can be forgotten and nutrition can become one-sided. Unfortunately, many elderly people are also lonely, even depressed. We then look for individual solutions for each customer's challenges," describes Röppänen.
Four regional numbers - Jyväskylä is divided into three regions
The helpline for the elderly has four regional telephone numbers. The area map can be found on our website: Helplines for the elderly will start on September 4.9: Customer and service guidance for the elderly will improve in the welfare region of Central Finland | Central Finland welfare area (hyvaks.fi)
Due to the large number of elderly people, Jyväskylä is divided into three areas. This aims to equalize the number of calls in different areas: Korpilahti customers' calls are answered from the western area, Tikkakoski, Vaajakoski and Paloka customers are answered from the eastern area, and Jyväskylä's calls are handled by the central area.
