On 30.5.2024 May XNUMX, the Public Transport Board will deal with travel allowances and winter timetables
The public transport board of the Jyväskylä region meets on Thursday, May 30.5. to decide on Linkki public transport issues. The agenda includes, among other things, the benefits of Linkki transport and the schedules and routes of the winter season 2024–25.
Linkki public transport discounts, benefits and luggage practices from 3.6.2024 June XNUMX
At the beginning of 2024, Link's area of jurisdiction expanded to Äänekoski, Toivakka, Hankasalmi and Petäjävete. After the changes, it is necessary to update and standardize the practices of the public transport benefits that were valid in Linkki traffic. In the area of jurisdiction, there is also traffic organized by Central Finland's ELY center and based on market conditions, where some of the benefits are not in use or where the practices differ slightly from the traffic organized by Link. In addition, the fleet in use in part of the traffic organized by Link poses challenges and limitations to the utilization of benefits, e.g. when traveling with prams or wheelchairs. Due to the financial situation of the municipalities, the introduction of new benefits related to travel is currently not possible.
Discounts and benefits
- Children 0–6 years: It is proposed to the board that from June 7, 3.6.2024, small children under the age of 7 travel free of charge on public transport in Link's entire area of jurisdiction, accompanied by their guardian who pays or uses the stroller benefit. A student traveling with a school ticket paying for basic education is not counted as a paying customer. A child under the age of XNUMX traveling alone pays the normal price of a child's ticket for their trip, as do children traveling in a group accompanied by instructors or caregivers (e.g. groups of children from early childhood education and pre-school education).
- Children 7–16 years: According to the proposal, the reduced children's ticket price will be valid from June 3.6.2024, 30 in public transport in Link's entire area of jurisdiction when traveling with a Waltti value or season ticket, a XNUMX-day season ticket downloaded from Waltti Mobiil, a mobile single ticket or a day ticket. The children's ticket price discount does not apply to a cash ticket in regional transport outside of Linkki (ELY's and market-based public transport).
- Young people 17–24 years old: The reduced youth ticket price in the proposal is valid from June 3.6.2024, 30, when traveling in Link's entire area of jurisdiction with a Waltti value or season ticket, a XNUMX-day season ticket downloaded from Waltti Mobiil, or a daily ticket.
- Students (over 25 years old): In the board's proposal, the reduced student ticket prices will be valid from June 3.6.2024, 30, when traveling on public transport in Link's entire area of jurisdiction with a Waltti value or season ticket or with a XNUMX-day season ticket downloaded from Waltti Mobile.
- Seniors: It is proposed to the board that the reduced senior ticket prices are 3.6. from when traveling with a Waltti value or season ticket or a 30-day season ticket that can be downloaded from Waltti mobile in public transport in Link's entire area of jurisdiction.
- In prams or prams, a small child is carried by: It is proposed to the board that the pram benefit is 3.6. valid from now on in public transport in Link's entire area of jurisdiction, so that in regional transport cars the prams/strollers are transported in the trunk of the car, and the child is moved to the passenger compartment of the bus. If the luggage compartment is full, additional stroller passengers cannot be taken on board. The pram benefit applies to the guardian who transports a baby or toddler in a pram, stroller or comparable bicycle pram, whose trips are free of charge. The benefit does not apply to carrying a child in a carrier, sling, etc. In low-floor buses in city traffic, the place for prams is in the middle of the bus. In regional transport cars, prams/strollers are transported in the trunk of the car. If the pram seats in the middle of the car or the luggage compartment of the regional transport car become full, additional pram passengers cannot be taken in the car for safety reasons.
- War veterans and disabled: War veterans and invalids of our wars (Winter War, Continuation War, Lapland War) have been issued a travel card entitling them to free travel at the Linkki service point. With the Matkakort, they have been able to travel in Jyväskylä, Lauka and Muuramen's Waltti traffic or Linkki-VIP service traffic. The introduction of the travel benefit requires proof of identity and the presentation of the necessary veteran or war invalid certificates. The benefit is proposed to be extended from 3.6.2024 June XNUMX to public transport in the entire area of Link's jurisdiction.
- Wheelchair passenger and assistant: It is proposed to the Public Transport Board to keep the benefit unchanged in traffic starting on June 3.6.2024, 1, however, so that the benefit is only valid for traffic driven by low-floor vehicles on lines S6-S3 and 46-XNUMX. A wheelchair passenger has been able to travel free of charge in Linkki's low-floor buses equipped with wheelchair spaces, and one escort/assistant has also been able to travel with them free of charge. The task of the escort is to help the wheelchair passenger during the entire journey: when getting into the car, securing the wheelchair and getting off the ride. People with reduced mobility, for whom a wheelchair is a necessary mobility aid, and who, due to their limitations, are not able to function in the bus like other passengers are entitled to the benefit. You enter with a wheelchair through the middle door and travel in seats without seats in the middle section. If the wheelchair is not a necessary aid for the customer and the customer is able to walk to the car himself, sit on the bus seat during the journey and carry his wheelchair out and in by himself, he is not a person entitled to the wheelchair passenger benefit. The wheelchair passenger benefit does not apply to persons traveling with a rollator and is not valid for Linkki-VIP service traffic.
- Assistants of persons entitled to assistant benefit: The assistant's/escort's trip has been free of charge when the customer's Waltti travel card has an indication of the right to an assistant. The customer himself pays the ticket price for his trip according to his user group. The right to an assistant can be obtained for the Waltti travel card by presenting the EU A-marked disability card at the Linkki service point. The A marking on the disability card means that the person can be accompanied by an assistant or support person. In the bus, the driver checks the right of assistance entry on the customer's Waltti travel card. The assistant benefit only applies to traveling with Waltti season and value tickets. It cannot be used if the customer travels with a one-time, day or mobile ticket. The benefit is proposed to be extended to Link's entire area of jurisdiction, and residents registered in Hankasalmi, Jyväskylä, Laukaa, Muurame, Petäjävedi, Toivaka or Äänekoski will receive it.
Baggage practices
- Bicycles: A normal bicycle and an electric scooter/scooter can be transported in Link, if there is space in the middle section. The owner of a bicycle or skateboard must ensure that the device stays upright and in place during the trip. If it is a larger-than-normal cargo, electric, etc. special model bike, the driver decides on a case-by-case basis whether to take it on board. Transporting a bicycle on a bus costs 2 euros in cash and cannot be paid by contactless payment or the value of a travel card. A transport fee is not charged for a folding bike or scooter that is carried under the arm. The practice is proposed to be continued on Linkki lines S3.6.2024-S1, 6–3, 46, 140 and 141 from June 143, XNUMX. In regional transport (organized by the ELY Center and market-based transport), the operator's transport practices and fees apply.
- Rollators: Traveling with a rollator has been possible in Linkki traffic, and it is then recommended to travel through the middle door. People traveling with a rollator pay for their trip normally. The practice is proposed to be continued on Linkki lines S3.6.2024-S1, 6–3, 46, 140, 141 from June 143, XNUMX. In regional transport (organized by the ELY Center and market-based transport), the operator's transport practices and fees apply.
- Baggage: It is proposed to the board to continue the current practices in Linkki public transport from June 3.6.2024, XNUMX. There are no separate baggage fees for luggage. You can carry the bag either on your lap or on the floor, the benches are reserved for people only. It is also possible to transport other large pieces of luggage in the car, but the driver will consider on a case-by-case basis whether they can fit. The transport of goods must not cause harm or danger to other passengers or the structures of the bus. Transporting flammable liquids, explosives and other dangerous substances (e.g. gas cylinders) in the car is prohibited for safety reasons. In regional transport (transport organized by the ELY center and market-based transport), the operator's transport practices and fees apply.
Link trafficwinter timetables and routes 8.8.2024 August 1.6.2025–XNUMX June XNUMX
The public transport board is presented with the approval of the preliminary timetables for the Linkki transport winter season 2024–25. There will be more changes than before to the Linkki public transport schedules, service level and routes for the winter season 2024–25. A new route plan has been drawn up for Linkki traffic, which was approved by the Public Transport Board in the summer of 2021 and based on which the traffic for the winter season 2024–25 has been planned. Some changes have been made to the winter schedules compared to the original plans. In the timetables, an effort has been made to ensure sufficient running times for the lines, to stagger the timetables of the lines better in different areas as far as possible, and to take customer wishes into account.
Small changes have been made to the service level due to the weakened financial situation of the municipalities: The planned Sunday service of Line 7 will not start yet in the coming winter season. Line 14M is supposed to operate as in the summer of 2024, i.e. as a quiet period on weekdays, on weekends the service will end in the center instead of Viitaniemi. Line 22M has been stripped of weekday traffic between 10 a.m. and 14 p.m. It's traffic that hasn't run in previous years either.
The more frequent shift intervals of Super-Link's weekday evening traffic have also been slightly shortened. The planned 15-minute shift interval is intended to run until approximately 18.00:20 p.m. on weekdays, after which the shifts will run every 21.00 minutes until approximately 30:60 p.m. on weekdays, and every 23/5 minutes thereafter. On weekends, the late-night offer from 6 pm onwards has also been slightly reduced on lines SXNUMX and SXNUMX.
The route changes made for summer traffic for lines 12, 14, 20 and 23 are also intended to be implemented in winter traffic and the routes will be run in accordance with summer traffic routes. In addition, individual, quiet time shifts have been reduced on Sunday mornings, however, in such a way that the service level is at least at the level of winter traffic in 2023–24. The traffic reductions made for cost-saving reasons are quite moderate compared to the overall service level, and they are not estimated to affect travel negatively. The euro-denominated savings from the reductions in the service level for the winter driving season total approximately 350 euros.
Toivaka's traffic is undergoing minor schedule revisions for the winter season, which concern the school day shifts that run on weekdays. At the moment, traffic in the direction of Petäjävesi operates according to market conditions, where the operators themselves decide on the routes, shifts and schedules. Hankasalmi and Äänekoski public transport was put out to tender in January-February 2024, and Koiviston Auto Jyväskylä Oy became the operator for both directions. In the coming winter, traffic in the directions of Hankasalmi and Äänekoski is planned to be mainly the same as last winter, and due to the challenging financial situation of the municipalities, no new traffic is planned for the winter driving season at this stage.
