The Public Transport Board decides on 21.2. about the new payment zones and the summer 2024 Linkki timetables
The public transport board of the Jyväskylä region will meet on Wednesday 21.2.2024 February 2024 to decide on Linkki public transport matters. The agenda includes, among other things, deciding on new payment zones in the public transport area and the preliminary timetables and routes for summer XNUMX.
Link's route reform will take effect when the summer timetables change on June 3.6.2024, XNUMX. Thus, in addition to the preliminary summer timetables, the board also confirms the new lines, routes and line numbers that start in the summer, according to the route plan.
Public transport payment zones in the Jyväskylä region
Toll zone model 3.6.2024B is presented to the Public Transport Board for approval and to be put into use from June 3, XNUMX. In the model, the public transport area formed by seven municipalities is divided into three toll zones A, B and C. The toll zone boundaries of the area generally follow the municipal boundaries, with the exception of Jyväskylä, whose area is divided into all three toll zones.
The board concluded the preliminary hearing of the zoning case on January 25.1. then requests opinions on the payment zone model from the municipalities in the authority area. Based on the statements, the municipalities saw model 3B of three payment zones as the best. The model was seen as the easiest to adopt from the customers' point of view. As a rule, the payment zones follow the municipal boundaries, so the model is also clear in terms of intra-municipal traffic and ticket pricing.
In its statement, the city of Jyväskylä emphasizes the economic perspective: the service offering, ticket products and pricing must be planned at a level that is sustainable from the point of view of the municipalities' finances and fair from the point of view of the municipalities. In the Toivaka municipality's statement, attention is drawn to Toivaka's transfer to the next zone, which is tentatively estimated to increase public transport customer prices. For this reason, the municipality of Toivaka requires that ticket pricing based on the selected zone model be prepared in an equitable way for the municipalities and in such a way that the goals of the Link to the Future 2030 development program are reached. The city of Äänekoski and the municipalities of Hankasalmi, Laukaa and Petäjävesi had no comments on the presented payment zone division. The municipality of Muurame also supports the payment zone model according to the presented alternative.

Linkki summer timetables and routes 3.6 June–7.8.2024 August XNUMX
Summer 2024 Linkki traffic schedules, service level and some of the routes will change substantially from the previous summer, when the route plan approved in 2021 will start to be implemented. It is proposed to the Public Transport Board to approve the preliminary timetables for Linkki transport for the summer of 2024 and to give the authority to the service manager to make corrections to more precise timetable plans. The service according to the new line has been tendered at the end of 2022, and Koiviston Auto Jyväskylä Oy (previously Jyväskylän Liikenne Oy) will start operating at the tendered destinations, which will operate destinations 1, 2 and 3 and 6 from the summer. Tilausajot Mennään Bussilla Oy, which operates destination 5, will continue to operate in parallel.
From the beginning of 2024, Hankasalmi, Petäjävesi, Toivakka and Äänekoski have also joined Link's domain. Tenders for traffic in the direction of Hankasalmi and Äänekoski are underway, operators will be selected in early March, and summer 2024 traffic will be driven to the areas according to the previous summer's schedules. Toivakka's service will continue on local bus line 38 as it did last summer. The Petäjävesi area is currently served by market-based traffic, the schedules of which are decided and responsible by the operator (Matka Mäkelä Oy). The regional transport summer timetable information will be provided to the public transport authority during May, and the purpose is to get public transport information for the entire Linkki area for the electronic timetable and route guide https://reittiopas.jyvaskyla.fi from the beginning of summer traffic.
Linkki's local transport service offering for the summer of 2024 will be better than the previous summer in several different ways. There will be about 20 more cars in everyday traffic and the daily driving kilometers will increase by about 25 percent from the previous summer. Due to the increase in cost levels and the weakened financial situation of the municipalities, it is not possible to use all the originally planned traffic for the summer. The entire planned traffic volume is supposed to be put into use in stages, so that the rest of the planned summer traffic will be put into use only from summer 2025, if the economic situation allows it and the number of trips has developed in line with expectations.
The most important changes in summer traffic, made for cost-saving reasons, concern Super-Linkkie's service levels. Some of the Super-Linkki lines are presented for operation in the summer with a 20-minute shift offer, although in the original procurement they were planned for a 15-minute shift offer. Line 22M is also not scheduled to start operating in the summer of 2024, as the number of trips between Tikkakoski and the center of Jyväskylä will clearly increase compared to the previous summer.
Compared to the original plans, the service offering has also been reduced on other individual lines and on weekend driving days. The traffic reductions planned for the summer of 2024 are estimated to bring savings of approximately 400 euros in operating expenses. Even though traffic will be reduced from the summer compared to the original plans, traffic will still increase significantly in several areas and the service offering will clearly improve compared to the previous summer.
With the line reform, there will also be some changes to the line numbers from June 3.6.2024, XNUMX. The six Super-Linkki lines that run the most frequently used routes of Linkki traffic are marked with their own number codes beginning with S. Super-Links operate in both directions with the following connection intervals:
- S1 Haapaniemi-Vaajakoski-Center-Central Hospital-Köhniö-Kortemäki
- S2 Kaunisharju-Vaajakoski-Keskusta-Kortemäki
- S3 Kortepohja-Keskusta-Ristikivi
- S4 Kortepohja-Keskusta-Nenäinniemi
- S5 Kaakkolampi-Kangaslampi-Keskusta-Laajavuori-Palokka
- S6 Heikkilä-Palokka-Center-Central Hospital-Keltinmäki-Mustalampi
Linkki local traffic will also start completely new lines in the summer:
- 9 and 9K, start operating between Vaajakoski and Savulahti
- 45 new trade line between Vaajakoski, Seppälä and Paloka, operates on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer, from Monday to Sunday from the winter season
- 46, a new shopping line between Kuokkala, Keljo supermarkets and Sairaala Nova, operates on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer, from Monday to Sunday from the winter season
There will be significant changes to the routes of some Linkki lines starting with summer traffic (the changes apply to both directions)
- Line 8 has not been operated in the summer before. The route of the line will also change. The new route is Kuokkala center-Ainola-Kekkola-Ristonmaa-Center-Viitaniemi
- Line 14: New route Muurami city center-Keljonkangas-Siraala Nova-Jyväskylä city center-Kangas-Kangaslampi
- Line 14M: New route Verkkoniemi-Muurame-Jyväskylä center-(Viitaniemi)
- Line 20: New route Pupuhuhta-Jyväskylä center-Kauramäki
Other changes:
- The operation of line 22M is planned to continue in the summer season as well, but for cost-saving reasons not yet in the summer of 2024.
- Line 36's summer service offering is planned to be improved, but for cost-saving reasons the improvements will not be implemented until summer 2024
- Lines 4, 12T, 19, 19L are no longer running. Lines 4, 19 and 19L will be combined into new lines 9 and 9K. Instead of line 12T, lines 14 and 20 will start operating in Kankaa.
