New foster families for children and young people are being sought in Central Finland
Could your family offer a home to a placed child or young person, i.e. could you work as a family nurse or family care substitute nurse? We are looking for new family caregivers for the welfare region of Central Finland. The information event for those interested in family care is on January 13.1.2025, XNUMX, and the next trainings will start in January.
About 220 child protection family nurses work in the welfare region of Central Finland. A family caregiver is needed when a child cannot live with their parents. The investment can be short-term or long-term. The family nurse offers the placed child a safe and caring home. In the home, the child receives education and care around the clock.
Family caregivers are offered training, support, financial compensation and their own responsible worker
Families receive coaching, training and support for the role of family nurse. They are also paid a fee and reimbursement of expenses. As a new form of support for each family caregiver, the Family Care Unit from Koiviko has a designated family care worker, contact person.
- The responsible worker supports the family caregiver and organizes the necessary support services for the family caregiver, such as job guidance, social worker Tarja Pesonen of the Family Care Unit from Koiviko explains.
Koivikko, the family care unit of the Central Finland welfare region, recruits, trains and supports family caregivers. Every family interested in family care goes through a preliminary training lasting about half a year. During the training, the parents of the family to be coached and the PRIDE coaches together assess whether the parents of the family have the skills to become family caregivers. At the same time, families have time to consider their own readiness and desire to become a family nurse.
Training is also organized for substitute caregivers who enable family caregivers to take time off, and remuneration and expense reimbursement are paid in accordance with the Family Care Act.
