The cultural activity's seasonal program includes a variety of concerts

In the autumn 2023 seasonal program of Äänekoski's cultural activities, the focus is once again on high-quality rhythmic music. In the performers' guard, e.g. domestic pop rock star Irina 14.12. and sister duo Osmo and Aili Ikonen joining forces for their Äänekoski concert on Thursday 5.10 October. All 9th graders in Äänekoski have free access to the seasonal program events. The opportunity to enjoy a wide range of cultural offerings is part of the city's cultural education plan.
With her energetic, versatile and fine production, Irina has become one of the fixed stars of domestic pop rock, whose almost all released albums have reached the platinum level. Known for her energetic gigs, Irina enjoys performing and as a popular live performer she is one of the hardest working artists in Finland.
Osmo Ikonen's expected feat. -tour includes a guest performer in each tour location. The guest at the Äänekoski gig is Aili Ikonen. Both are known as amazingly skilled and versatile interpreters of music, who are known for many connections. Osmo Ikonen, e.g. As the keyboardist of Sunrise Avenue, Aili Ikonen widely as a soloist of top orchestras in our country.
Sonia and Rosa Coste, who represent the young generation of songwriters, bring the fall holiday week to Thursday 19.10 October. soulful storytelling and modern, stylish pop music.
Sonia from Jyväskylä Sonia is an up-and-coming artist from Jyväskylä, mesmerizing with her soulful singing voice, who composes and writes her own lyrics. The artist who gigs with the band follows intuition and a good feeling on stage, and conquers his audience with his ability to create emotional worlds through his music and lyrics.
Rovaniemi native Rosa Coste, who won the Rookie of the Year award at the Indie gala in 2021, has grown up surrounded by hip-hop, rock and African rhythm music. His background has made him a strong-willed writer and a relaxed performer. Coste, who makes modern r&b in Finnish in a clean style, is a talented storyteller and creates his music surrounded by friends.
Folk music roots and acoustic sound from the top of jazz
Jazz lovers are in for a full stomach of sweets. International winds will be brought by Sir Garrison (Fin, Us) and La Litanie of the Peaks (FR) on Thursday 21.9.
The music of Sir Garrison, formed by Sami Leponiemi, Nathan Francis and Okko Saastamoinen, reflects the band's respect for nature and each other. The band produces an acoustic and natural sound, and is composed by the band members.
The Litany of the Peaks (La Litanie des Cimes) is an acoustic trio founded by violinist Clément Janinet in 2019, where he is joined by clarinetist Elodie Pasquier and cellist Bruno Ducret. Janinet's compositions, which are related to repetitive music, are built from intertwined rhythmic fabrics, whose starting point can be found in American minimalism as well as in folk music.
Aleksis Liukko Trio on Wednesday 18.10. and Aurora Hentunen Quintet on Thursday 2.11. represent the top of modern Finnish jazz.
Aleksis Liukko is known for e.g. As pianist, composer and arranger of the Sointi Jazz Orchestra and pianist of the Laura Annika Quartet. In addition to Liuko, the top Finnish musicians of the moment include bassist Mikael Saastamoinen (e.g. Perussastamala, Katu Kaiku, Linda Fredriksson) and drummer Okko Saastamoinen (e.g. OK:KO, SIR GARRISON, Arppa), who bring strong joint playing and natural musical communication to the trio.
Founded in 2017, the Aurora Hentunen Quintet has risen to the top of Nordic jazz music and one of the most interesting domestic jazz groups in a few years.
The quintet's music includes the personalities of the players as a rich and versatile whole. The atmosphere moves with the songs from one story to another, from delicate northern tones to deep and dark waves, from the chilling fells of Lapland to the busy streets of Amsterdam. The new music also focuses on the experiences, loneliness and hope caused by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
Thursday of Father's Day week, November 8.11. the program features a new children's play by Teatteri Europa Nelka. The play My father is a superman is based on Timo Parvela's swashbuckling book, in which ten-year-old Lauri Virtanen's father claims to be a superman and rushes around the globe to fight disasters. Lauri's mother also turns into a cat lady. In addition, there is a girl in a wheelchair living upstairs who wants to escape to dream worlds. The play is directed and dramatized by Antti Lattu.
Central Finnish theater and music skills
Global kantele by central Finnish kantele masters Olga Kolar and Maria Ojanperä, who joined forces concert on 21.9. brings forth modern music composed for the kantele. Global and local, Finnish and international meet each other in the concert.
The concert will also include two original performances and an interesting range of music set to kantele, e.g. From Astor Piazzolla. The standard performances are the handiwork of Austrian Mathias Schmidhammer and Niilo Oikari, who came from a Karstula gambling family.
Maria Ojanperä is a master of music and music pedagogue who teaches kantele playing in Äänekoski, Saarijärvi and Jyväskylä. Olga Kolari is a multi-instrumentalist from Tunakoski. Henry Kolari and Arto Vidgren participate in the Glassification improvisation as guest musicians. Composer Mathias Schmidhammer will also arrive from Austria to watch the premiere of his work.
