The prices of Link's public transport tickets will increase from 1.1.2025 January XNUMX
Public transport ticket prices will increase at the turn of the year. When you download Link's season ticket no later than 31.12., you will still get it at the old price!
The new ticket price list is valid from 1.1.2025 January XNUMX and can be found on Link's price list page at https://linkki.jyvaskyla.fi/hinnasto. The price changes apply to Linkki public transport tickets that are in use in Jyväskylä, Laukaa, Muurame, Äänekoski, Hankasalmi, Toivaka and Petäjävedi.
Why are the prices increased?
The increase in Link's ticket prices is due to recent changes in the state's support measures. State support for public transport was cut for this and future years, which in the case of Link means an annual income reduction of around one million euros. In addition, the state will increase the value added tax on public transport tickets from 1.1.2025 January 10 from 14 percent to 0,5 percent, which on an annual basis means paying an additional amount of just under XNUMX million euros to the state.
In order to maintain Link's current level of service in a tight financial situation, ticket price increases cannot be avoided. The price changes correspond to the 3,64 percent increase caused by the rising value added tax. However, it is assumed that the number of public transport trips will increase with the new line to the extent that the ticket revenues will cover part of the rising costs. During Link's 10-year operating history, the goal has been to keep the price level of public transport tickets as affordable as possible, and this is the aim in the future.
Season tickets have the smallest increase, cash tickets have the highest
The price increases apply to ticket products of all payment zones A–C. In the season tickets of customers who regularly use public transport, an effort has been made to apply the increases evenly to all products. Prices have also been rounded in order to avoid cent prices in financing and to keep the prices easy to understand. The price of an adult one-zone 30-day season ticket will be 60 euros from the beginning of the year, while it has been 58 euros until now.
The aim is to reduce the handling of money in buses, therefore the price of cash tickets bought from the driver with money will rise proportionally more. In addition, customers are offered other ticket products that are cheaper than cash tickets. In the future, the price of an adult one-zone cash ticket will be 4 euros (currently 3,50 euros) and 2 euros for children (currently 1,80 euros).
The prices of all ticket products from January 1.1.2025, XNUMX can be checked on Link's website https://linkki.jyvaskyla.fi/hinnasto.
The pricing of the value ticket, contactless ticket and mobile one-time ticket will be unified
In addition to the changes caused by VAT, ticket pricing will also be clarified. In the future, paying with the value of the travel card, with contactless payment on the bus, and with a mobile one-time ticket will be the same price in the future. In practice, this means increasing the prices of value and contactless payment tickets and lowering the prices of mobile tickets.
As of January 1.1.2025, 2,70, the price of a one-zone trip for an adult will be 0,40 euros, regardless of whether the trip is paid for with a value ticket, contactless payment or a mobile ticket. This brings an increase of 0,30 euros to the price of an adult one-zone value and contactless ticket, and the price of a mobile one-time ticket decreases by XNUMX euros.
Customer groups remain the same in value, contactless and mobile tickets. For example, contactless payment tickets will continue to have only one zone price, regardless of the passenger's age group.
