New ticket prices for Linkki local transport
Public transport ticket prices will change in Jyväskylä, Laukaa and Muurame from February 1.2.2024, 1.2. The new price list for Linkki local traffic is valid from 2.6.2024 February to XNUMX June XNUMX.
The reason behind the periodicity of the price list is the payment zone reform to be implemented in June. The change in payment zones can also bring revisions to ticket prices, but the most significant price changes will be made in February. In connection with the reform, the payment zones will be expanded to include, in addition to the former Linkki municipalities, the new members of the area of jurisdiction: Äänekoski, Petäjävet, Hankasalme and Toivakka.
- Throughout Link's 10-year operating history, our goal has been to keep ticket prices as affordable as possible. Before this, we have never raised prices, only lowered them. The current ticket prices have been valid since 2020, says the service manager responsible for public transport Kari Ström From the city of Jyväskylä.
- When you look at the general economic development and the price increase in every sector, I think the price increases for Linkki tickets that are being made now are moderate. From the customer's point of view, price increases are never a good thing, but now it is necessary due to the weakened economic situation of the municipalities and the costs of traffic, for example, the increase in fuel prices. Overall, costs have increased by around 18 percent since 2020, so unfortunately we can no longer avoid raising ticket prices, Ström states.
Season tickets have the smallest increase, single tickets have the highest
The price increases apply to ticket products of all payment zones A–D. The increase percentage varies by ticket product, and the prices of single tickets purchased with cash from the driver will increase proportionally the most. The prices of season ticket products for customers who use public transport a lot will increase less than single and value tickets for occasional travelers.
The special daytime pricing for seniors, i.e. people over 65, will be removed on February 1.2. from Seniors have criticized the daytime special pricing and considered it limiting their travel, when the cheaper price has only been valid from 9.00:14.00 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. Now the special pricing is removed and seniors can travel at all times of the day at a reduced value ticket price, which is the same as the corresponding ticket price for young people and students.
From now on, all day tickets are four-zone tickets, the price of which is relatively cheaper than before. In the future, a fee of 2 euros will be charged for transporting bicycles and electric scooters (not foldable) in Link. The new Waltti travel card ordered through the online store will be charged on February 1.2. from the same card payment as at other points of sale, 5 euros.
