Those who have been unemployed for a long time have been better served and the payment portion of labor market support has dropped
Although the unemployment rate in Äänekoski is quite high at the provincial level, last year the employment services of the city of Äänekoski achieved particularly good results. The payment portion of the city's labor market support dropped a lot, and more than 200 euros were saved during the year.
- When a municipality's unemployment period gets longer, it costs the city more. In other words, those who have been unemployed the longest have been directed to the right service with us or they have found employment. This is despite the fact that the city of Äänekoski's own wage support employment was on hiatus for the last four months, the director in charge of Äänekoski's employment services Anna Lyytikäinen says.
The goal is primarily to employ the customers. If it is not successful, they are directed to services that promote employment.
- Our personal trainers have guided clients and they have actively applied themselves for the right services, and our so-called activation rate is at a good level. For example, in November it was 41,7 percent, which means that customers have been directed to services that promote employment, such as workforce training or work trials.
In November, the number of unemployed people in Äänekoski was 13,5 percent of the workforce, and unemployment rose the most among process and transport workers. There were 44 percent fewer new jobs in Äänekoski than a year ago, and only 61 jobs were open.
- The world's weak economic situation and the Russian war of aggression with its effects are now also visible in our companies. The unemployment rate in Äänekoski is quite high, and at the end of the year it rose, because there were many layoffs in companies. In addition to that, young people got out of the army, students graduated and fixed-term employment ended. In Äänekoski, the most laid off workers have been construction, repair and manufacturing workers, as well as process and transport workers, Lyytikäinen says.
The number of customers in Äänekoski's employment services has increased also because in the future Kela's full income support can only be received if the customer has a valid job application.
In Äänekoski, 13 municipalities in Northern Central Finland are currently being prepared. The employment manager of Äänekoski was selected as the project leader for the employment area preparation until 31.8.2024 August XNUMX Riikka Hytönen and as temporary project coordinators until the end of the year Merja Sihvonen from the TE office and Anja Rein From the city of Äänekoski. The director in charge, Anna Lyytikäinen, is now responsible for the municipal experiment of employment in Äänekoski and partly for the duties of the employment manager.
