Northern Central Finland University of Applied Sciences and Äänekoski High School were interested in the spring joint application
87 primary applicants from Äänekoski and nearby municipalities applied to Äänekoski high school. Electricity and forestry became Poke's most popular sectors.
Northern Central Finland's vocational college Poke increased the number of applicants for the joint application compared to last year. In this spring's joint application, a total of 622 young people applied to Pokelle, of which 377 were primary applicants.
Priority means the destination that the applicant has stated as their first wish as a place of study. In total, the applicant could apply to a maximum of seven applications.
This year, applicants were interested in technical fields such as electricity and automation, machine and production technology, and the vehicle sector. In addition, the logistics and forestry sectors were popular.
- It's great that engineering fields were popular. I believe that the good regional business cycles of certain sectors, the positive message of employers in the region about the need for employees and other positive image visibility have an impact on the matter. One factor has certainly also been Poke's TET weeks, where first-graders get to get to know Poke's fields in practice. TET episodes have been very popular this academic year. Sometimes a young person should also think that if the economy in a field is weak now, then three years from now, when the young person graduates, the situation may be completely different, as is the case in the construction field, for example, says Poke's study director Maarit Ikonen.
Poke now offers training to prepare for a degree, i.e. TUVA, in three locations in Äänekoski, Viitasaari and the new one in Laukaa.
- TUVA's applicant numbers show that TUVA is necessary and its expansion to Laukaasi was a good thing. This provides preparatory training for those young people who do not yet have clear plans and who need to strengthen, for example, their study skills, says Ikonen.
Joint application is the application route for vocational training for those leaving basic school. In addition, the continuous application gives the opportunity to apply for vocational training flexibly throughout the year. In addition to basic degrees, applications for professional and specialized professional degrees are made through the continuous search. In addition, you can apply for apprenticeship training throughout the year and workforce training through the te administration.
