Sydän-Suomen jätekuanta informs: The processing invoicing of fine and closed well sludge will change next yearon 2025
Äänekosken Energia Oy handles the processing of sludge generated by living in the Äänekoski area, also for fine and closed well sludge. Currently, the Waste Act obliges the waste management authority to maintain a waste register, which also monitors fines and closed-pit sludge management. The waste authority of Central Finland is the waste board. Jätehuolto's other register is currently part of the register jointly used by the Waste Board and Sammakkokangas Oy.
In Äänekoski, a private company that drains wells has billed both the well emptying and sludge transportation and the sludge handling fee. Sammakkokangas, as a municipal waste company, has for several years already invoiced the processing fees for fine and closed well sludge in the area of several of its owner municipalities. In 2025, this invoicing will also be extended to the invoicing of fines and closed well sludge processing fees in the Äänekoski area. The Waste Board has also confirmed sludge handling fees as part of the waste tax.
How will fines and closed well sludge management work in the future?
- As before, the owner of the property orders the emptying of the well from an entrepreneur with the desired permits, who will empty the well and transport the sludge to Äänekosken Energia Oy's treatment plant for processing.
- The transport company invoices the owner of the property for the share of emptying and transporting the sludge.
- Sammakkokangas invoices the owner of the property for the share of sludge treatment in accordance with the approved waste tax.
- Information about well emptying is entered in the waste register in connection with invoicing.
- Sammakkokangas pays the invoiced fines and dead-well sludge fees to Äänekosken Energia Oy periodically.
The owner of the property must take care of the proper draining of the well periodically and note that in the future the portion of the well emptying for handling and transport will be on two separate invoices.
