Welcome to the launch event of the HIVÄÄ KASVUA well-being skills curriculum
The city of Äänekoski and Kauniainen publish a well-being skills curriculum developed in cooperation with Positive Education Oy, which is freely donated for use by all schools in Finland. The Äänekoski HYVÄÄ KASVUA - well-being skills curriculum launch event will be held on Wednesday, September 20.9.2023, 14 from 16 to XNUMX pm in the council hall of the town hall. Everyone who is interested is welcome to the launch event and you can also participate remotely!
At the launch event, the goals and contents of the curriculum for the well-being skills - HIVÄÄ KASVUA - will be presented, which are free for everyone to use and can be downloaded from Positive Education's website positive learning.fi after the launch event.
The goal of the curriculum is to provide a functional structure and foundations for how schools can systematically and consistently promote and strengthen well-being and prevent exclusion in the future. 1-9. In addition to the principles and goals written for the classes, the pages contain plenty of videos, material and task content for implementing a wide-ranging well-being education in basic education 1-9. for classes. Much of the material can easily be used in early childhood education and pre-school education as well.
As pioneers in well-being education
The cities of Äänekoski and Kauniainen are pioneers in comprehensive wellness education. Long-term and consistent work has been done in both cities for the development and teaching of well-being education since 2016. During these years, well-being education has become part of the structures of the school culture in both cities, and the education has concerned children and young people from early childhood education up to the 9th grade of basic education.
In Äänekoski, the well-being of children and young people has been seen as an important common goal of the school communities, which has created a foundation and direction for the activities of the school communities. In the fall of 2023, a significant step will be taken towards an even more purposeful well-being education, when the GOOD GROWTH - Well-being skills curriculum built in cooperation with Positive Educaton will be published and officially put into use on September 20.9.2023, XNUMX. This local curriculum guides the daily teaching and educational work of basic education in Äänekoski, building a strong common direction for the teaching and learning of well-being skills.
Teachers have been trained systematically and long-term
The city of Äänekoski has invested in teacher training for positive pedagogy and comprehensive well-being education for years and has been developing the schools' competence in the long-term in terms of teaching well-being skills.
There will already be a total of 75 teachers of positive pedagogy and comprehensive well-being education in Äänekoski's schools and early childhood education next winter who have undergone a year-long supplementary training.
The positive pedagogy and comprehensive well-being education training program is based on research and practical applications of well-being skills and school well-being in students. Research on positive pedagogy has confirmed that exercises, such as building emotional and interaction skills and a positive community action culture, can have a positive effect on students' well-being and learning outcomes.
