The first results of business travel cycling
The four electric bicycles of the Vihreya Uusiutuva Äänekoski project have been put to use by the personnel in an exemplary manner, despite the challenging winter season. Almost 630 kilometers were accumulated during the review period and 159 cycling times. The users managed to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of movement by almost 94 kg co2, because 90% of the driven kilometers/distances replaced the car. Many thanks to our pioneers!
First results September 2021 - January 2022
Results now reported has been calculated from personnel electric cycling in the period September 2021 - January 2022. Pioneers interested in electric cycling were found in a total of five different individuals. Total kilometers driven were around 603 kilometers and 159 trips. The average distance was about 4,4 km.
Most of the trips were between home and work. About 60 kilometers were driven on business trips. E-bikes were also used e.g. for doing business in the store and for additional exercise. Up to about 90% of the trips (not including additional exercise rides) the use of an electric bike replaced driving.
In the first phase of the trial, a carbon dioxide emission reduction of approximately 94 kg CO2 was thus achieved.
Moods from times
Users described e-biking as a "wheely", "oxygen-rich" and "invigorating day" way of moving. Cycling with electric assistance was perceived as a pleasant way in the hilly terrain of Äänekoski: "It's wonderful when you can also pedal uphill!". The functionality of the bike in winter weather was praised.
Users suggested that they could use the electric bike more for their mobility in the future. Hopes for improvement were e.g. additional bikes, bigger cycling helmets and better plowing of cycle paths.
The construction of the joint use model continues
The trial operation continues under the coordination of the Äänekoski workshop Zoom. User data and feedback will be collected from the units/offices using electric bikes at least until the end of the project, i.e. until 31.7.2022 July XNUMX.
